Skysports.com understands Blackburn Rovers are battling with local rivals Bolton Wanderers to sign David Ngog after he rejected a move to Leicester City. Bolton have spent the past few weeks trying to agree a deal for Ngog, who has not featured in any of Liverpool's games so far this season. Trotters boss Owen Coyle is keen to improve his attacking options and claimed last week that 'time will tell' whether he can land Ngog before the transfer window closes. However, there has been late interest in the Frenchman, with ambitious Championship club Leicester making a move for the 22-year-old. The former Paris St Germain youngster has turned down the chance to join Sven Goran Eriksson's side as he wants to remain in the Premier League. Blackburn are now understood to have registered a late interest in signing Ngog as Steve Kean seeks to bring in another striker before Wednesday's deadline. A move for Hoffenheim's Vedad Ibisevic has fallen through and Rovers are now battling it out with Bolton to secure a reported £4million deal for Ngog. The forward has scored 19 goals in 94 appearances during his time at Anfield, but has been unable to secure a regular starting place.
The Liverpool Echo has a different take on it. David Ngog will become a Bolton Wanderers player today in a £4 million+ deal. Source http:// www.liverpoolfc.tv (Gossip column).
I'll go for the echo story... if n'dog has any brains (which i doubt) he'd go to bolton where the best set up exists... blackburn are favorites for the drop! as long as he goes i'm happy. i'd rather watch eccleston lash about at pace then miss sitters than watch him flop about anymore
He will probably do very well at Bolton where he can get a good run of games. But he is not fit for the Liverpool frontline.
Wouldn't be surprised to see an 11th hour bid from Real Madrid or Barcelona looking for the lad. Is £50mill to much to hope for?
I don't undersand all the N'gog bashing. He was signed for £1mil after scoring 1 goal in 19 for PSG. He scored about 10 goals last year (although some were in Europa) but he's only about 22? It's not like he's been signed for £50mil and only scored 1 goal in his whole career for us... He's shown glimpses of good skill and was the only player last year that would actually run at players (before we got Suarez). I think £4mil would be a good investment for Bolton and he could blossom there given a few years. Remember how everyone had it in for Lucas his first few years, well N'gog is in the same position just a year or 2 behind Lucas.
This, how many of you would claim you always backed him if he came out good because i guarantee you some of you did give lucas stick and claim you didn't
Lucas... I have parodied in my Duke Usleiva blog- but I've always defended him when being serious. N'Gog... I neither think he is anything special- nor anything awfull. He was good for what he was- a cheap decent young backup who could one day be leading the line for a midtable club. N'Gog did a decent job for us... he's just not quite good enough- yet I know he tried- and I'm happy for that.
Don't get me wrong I don't think he is good enough for us at the moment, but he's only young! He's about the same age as Pacheco... one has played about 10 games as subs and the other had been leading the forward line for us in the absence of Torres and scored goals. Paacheco may not have been given a fair crack, but the people in the know must have seen something in N'gog to keep playing him! The way some people have been going on it's like N'gog has only scored own goals and purposely lost games for us!
