    Chaps,
Am I alone is feeling that the atmostphere at SJP has been getting better and better over recent months?
Yesterday was unbelievable and the volume levels when we burst into the 'were in the top 6' chant was truly deafening.
it's not often I get goose bumps at a match but the whole crowd was something special yesterday.
Well done to all of those who played their part.
SJP is once again a fortress.

You know that we are now bound to pick up 1 point from our games against Bolton and Stoke right?

To be fair to the fans, the whole place has been a bit of a shambles to begin with when they took over, and then some seriously risks were taken. The fans have simply stopped the whole blind faith thing because they'd been shat on too many times and said they want to see results not chit chat. That has come, the risks have paid off, everybody has relaxed a bit and the cheer has come back.

I said when we were in the depths a while back, we have great support. But like any support the players have to feed them to get them going. Football has never changed in that regard. If you give our fans 100% effort first and foremost, a bit of carpet football, a bit something special (Benni), a goalscorer or two (Ba and Papiss), you're onto a winner. We're not that hard to please despite what the southern press may tell you. We just expect effort and football played properly.

    Think it could be that
a)the club's doing really well now
    b)Exciting attacking football
c)Common Enemy(Carroll Enrique to some extent Bellamy, "King" Kenny)

All the factors above add into the creation of the great atmosphere..

More than the other two for any self respecting Newcastle fan. Much more abusive about the club and its fans since he left than the other two ever have or will be. Absolute **** bag and highlight of my afternoon watching his scowling little ****face trudging off.

I think he has caught us all of guard after his start to his career. I'd like some kind of traditional fishing song to be used!

one thing i've noticed recently which is good, is the crowd really cheering tackles, clearances, and any extra effort by defenders

gotta be good for players like Perch, Willo, Simpson etc. feeling like the crowd is behind them and spurring them on to put themselves on the line

About a ten minute long chant of 'We've got Perchinho'.

Yesterday was my first game at SJP since Blackpool last year. Incredibly, I'd say it was louder than the Millenium Stadium for the Italy match, which I also went to.

It has for the big games, however at times I could hear a fart from the dug out when we play the lesser teams.

Perchino chant was great. Really pleased for the lad.
Liverpool fans were very quiet and a lot of shaking their heads.

There have been a few games where the atmosphere has been ****e, but those games were mainly really tense games where we were just scraping results and I myself found it hard to sing. I was so nervous. Some days it's just because the crowds aren't up for it.

However in most home games our atmosphere has been very good IMO.

Some people may argue that fans should get behind the team no matter what, but what the players do on the pitch really does effect the fans.

When the players are fighting and especially when they're playing attacking football, the fans will create a great atmosphere.

If the players sit back and play ****e like they have so many times when we think the game is already won or we establish a lead a sit back, the fans wont feel the urge to make a noise.

The players need to do their part. Our fans get behind the players even if the technical side of our performance is ****, but if the players show lack of passion and fight to win the game, the fans will either get on their backs or just lose their flame.

And that's completely understandable to me.

The fans have been great for the most part.

    Couldn't hear them.

Spoke to one or two on the way out of the ground and they were ok though. Accepted defeat gracefully.
