Thought it would be better to continue the Danny discussion here... https://www.hampshirelive.news/spor...ings-southampton-totteham-contract-4766592?b= I have to say, I'm a tad disappointed after all he's said since joining Saints. We've helped him rescue his career and got him super fit - not something that would necessarily have happened had he gone elsewhere. But we know there's no loyalty in the games these days. He won't be a starter for Spurs if he goes and will simply end up another Lallana collecting silverware from the bench. If that is what he wants then I suspect the announcement by the club just ahead of the January transfer window means we will maximise the transfer fee by selling him in January. It would be a huge disappointment but as Ralph say, the train is leaving...
That article is bullshit. His contract expires in 2022, not 2021. And we are most definitely not selling him in January.
I don’t think that’s going to be the case. Look at the similar situation with PEH. They will be more likely to wait until summer to sell because it’s impossible to replace him in January. Plus, as we said on the other thread, that article keeps saying his contact is up at the end of the season. It isn’t.
It could well be the case that he’s looking to leave, or leverage other interest to get a bigger contract here. Of course. That’s life and why shouldn’t he? Footballers are in control of the value of their labour and absolutely should be. The article linked does sort of shoot a gaping hole in its credibility by repeatedly stating something totally incorrect though.
But the Sky Sport interview with Ralph is not misleading. He sounds as though he's run out of ideas with Danny.
Danny knows how much power he has over a new deal, I think he is simply extracting as much as he can from Saints
