Just one game beyond half way and PAFC are top of Div 2 going into the new year.

Looking at Argyle's statistics so far this season throws up some strange results.

For instance in league games only........

!.....We have achieved nine clean sheets.

2.....We have won eleven games by just one goal.

3.....In twelve games we have scored twice.

4.....We have only once scored more than two goals in a match...(4-1 Carlisle).

5.....In our five defeats we have only lost by the odd goal.

6.....We have won five games with a two goal margin.

7.....We have failed to score only twice.....and one of those ended up 0-0.

8.....We have yet to be given a penalty.....some refusals have looked dubious.

Only scoring more than two goals in a match one time shows that we have a solid defence.....we have given away 20 goals....only Oxford on 19 can better us.

We have won 15 games......one more than Northampton who are second on 14.

We have achieved all this with our No1 striker missing more than half our matches.

We have also in the last month missed our mid-field maestro as well.

The damaging effect of the spine of our team being injured and out at the same time, we have managed to survive.....from being 5pts clear we have come through to lead by 3pts....although Northampton can match us if they win their game in-hand.

Having had McCormick, McHugh, Hartley, Simpson, Carey, Boateng, Reid and even Bittner unavailable almost all at the same time....and having a smallish squad as well..... just shows us that in Derek Adams we have a very astute manager who has managed us through what could have been a very damaging period...... Boateng and Carey are on the verge of being available again to complete our injury recovery.....although of course Boateng will be finishing his loan after Saturday....as will Tanner, Threlkeld and possibly Walton and Croll.

How many of those loanees can he hang on to......Boateng and Tanner staying would be a boost....possibly Threlkeld as well who has been doing well lately......and the talk of strengthening the squad in the January window sounds very promising......I feel promotion is in our hands to win.....surely we cannot throw it away from this position......unless we lose important players in the transfer period.....I hope not.

This is Argyle BC, be sure the wheels can. Mind you tis the Janner way to be so upbeat......hmmm!!

Interesting read but they don't really prove anything apart from what has gone on. Nothing to do with what will be for the second half. To be fair there is no reason at this stage to believe Argyle will fall apart. The players are coming back and we have done quite well without them and surely have to do better or at least as well with them.

Adams' remark that 46 points at the half way stage of the season (with another 3 now in the bag) is telling: double it and you are over the magic 90 point mark. OK, a lot could go wrong yet but we've had a scruffy patch as well as a good one and we're still well in the fight.

The club is seeking extensions to the loans of Boateng, Tanner & Threlkeld and is looking for further recruits to strengthen the squad.

I have confidence in this manager and we couldn't have hoped to start 2016 from a better position.

I do agree that we should be upbeat about th current and I also have some confidence in this Manager. I think he will go places even if it isn't with Argyle in the end. I hope it's with however. Brent has said as good as there are funds. Not a fortune but even some is better than last term and even one good addition, along with keeping the loanees we have, and that would be good. I'm not expecting a load of incoming. I'm hoping there isn't any outgoing as well but if there is it's for proper money. I trust Adams to be able to replace.
