I took my mother to the theatre on Saturday night. Over dinner we were having a discussion about favourite plays and shows. It got me wondering - what would you all say The Most reverend Justin Wellby's favourite show is? My mum suspects it is Jesus Christ Superstar. I would think that unlikely as he takes a dim view about adultery so it's unlikely he'd be putting too much money in Lord Lloyd webber's pockets. He also hates cricket following a rather unfortunate event involving a group of Wesleyans and a set of cricket stumps so i don't think he'd be too fond of Tim Rice's ongoing support for the Lord Taverners. He strikes me as amore traditional type of chap so I would plump for King Lear . What do you all think?
He likes it but his wife disapproves. Little known fact - in 1949 when Arthur miller receoved the Pullitzer prize for drama her Uncle Cyril was also shortlisted. At the ceremony he was greatly offended because Arthur Miller said his shoes looked just like the ones that Emperor hirohito was wearing the day he gave the order to attack Pearl Harbour.
