Of course, you know what the cynic would say to that!

He is correct though. What now needs to happen is that the pressure on the Council needs to be ramped up. That is best achieved by the publication of details of what exactly the Sports Village would be, what it would look like and how it would be funded/maintained.

What's happened to Brady in the last week or so?

Ahead of the Pompey game, Assem said he though Councillor Brady was a good man and their discussions had gone quite well, but since Geraghty starting waffling bollocks, I don't remember hearing anything from him at all. AP has stated his belief that the council should do everything possible to make this happen, now the ambulance chaser has said the same, that's now all three of the city's main sporting clubs supporting the development.

Has anyone claimed it's a bad idea, other than Geraghty himself?

I just wonder if the revelation that the Allams wanted the Council to contribute to the scheme by effectively DONATING the KC Stadium came as a MASSIVE shock to the politicians and as soon as that was known, everything else became irrelevant.

Brady is probably happy to let his pet rottweiler make a nob of himself in front of the press.

Without an extensive public relations campaign, I think you would find that there would be a majority (albeit a small majority) in favour of the KC Stadium remaining in public ownership.

Someone needs to get out there in the media and show people just what they will be missing out on.

as things stand the kc will just go to wrack and ruin. the pressure is already growing on the council by all the clubs in the area. brady has gone qt and geraghty has just made a bigger fool of himself. who knows whats going on behind the scenes and maybe brady is doing his talking in private. we have not heard the last of this thats for sure.

The Allams don't even need to borrow against the stadium to fund this. This will be there excuse to get it for free, when maybe they could just have said 'give us the stadium, we'll build this' without the very small risk of debt being against the kc, and could maybe have been a different outcome. Maybe this is what the council saw... but they're probably just a total bunch of tossers who live with their heads stuck up their own arses.

Either way, if the public get on their backs about this they will have no choice, as politicians, but to grant permission. Even if they don't personally agree they will swing in favour of the public in attempt to keep votes and stay in power. I ****ing hate politicians, we should just leave the country in charge of the queen. Oliver Cromwell was a complete prick look what he's gone and caused...

There is an excellently-written case for the defence here: http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/. I'm certainly not saying I am against the idea, far from it, but can understand some of the council's reservations.

A very good and unbias summary of the situation frecktiger. The full facts should be known before blindly getting behind one side or the other.

when returning to politics in hull 2009 Geraghty said this ...
"I am an old-fashioned real Labour socialist and I believe the council should be about helping people and making Hull better."

I think the 'donation' element is mischief by Geraghty, but it seems to have got some of our co-tenants confused.

The Allams are asking the Council to contribute to the over all package. They're suggesting a contribution of around £30mill. They're suggesting that could be in the form of the Stadium, but being realistic, the Stadium's worth considerably less than that amount.

It's like the claim that's got the wooly heads flapping that Geraghty reckons Allam's going to kick them out in 15 months, despite both Allam and Adam Pearson pointing out that they a) can't and b) don't want to.

Geraghty also seems confused by Allam not showing his plans I guess Geraghty doesn't by the Hull Daily Mail that has already outlined them, but as the meeting was to discuss the general principle, the plans would have been pretty broad and meaningless anyway. The little bit of information put to Geraghty seems to have confused him, giving him more would have left him needing a lie down.

I think Geraghty is in serious danger of driving away other potential investors to this region due to his childish stance and demonstrable lack of business awareness on this issue.
Meetings like that are starting points for negotiations, not a case of presenting a rigid package to be accepted or refused in its entirety.

I don't think Geraghty cares. As I said, Geraghty is Old Skool Labour. The last thing he wants is for the people of Hull to enjoy a better standard of living. My God!! They'd all start voting Lib Dem or Conservative if that happened!
