mind you - if I think that I can profit, I may not always point out what I think may be a mistake -
A few years ago, Mrs alwaysright and I were in a department store - looking for new pots and pans for the kitchen. We saw a set of Circulon pots, casserole pans and frying pans 'on sale' - We couldn't believe the price on the tags - ranging from £1.50 to £5. We knew that Circulon was 'quality' - and were staggered at the ridiculously low prices. The original prices would have been 10 times the one shown on the tags -- we both suspected that the store had made a mistake........ and looked for a till operative who looked 'stupid enough' to not query the price ! We picked out a young girl ( no more than 18 ), who we thought wouldn't have a clue. To give her some credit, she actually stated that the prices that she was ringing up seemed a good deal ---- if only she knew -- we saved about £200 that day!

I can't afford to live in Peterborough ! - not even in a tent
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-47982434

There I was thinking that we have a knife crime problem in this country - and other REAL antisocial behaviour !
I am surprised that the wardens aren't going around with a card reader these days - but I don't expect that too many kids with catapults have a credit/debit card - and 'genuine' beggars wouldn't qualify for one - and the 80 year-old man in my High Street, who was choking and had to 'spit-it-out' , ( before he was pounced on for his £80 ticket ), was only concerned with trying to breath !
When did it become a REAL crime to make a 5 second 'drop off' for your children ? -- so that they can get an education - to prevent them from having to beg for a living ( or work as a PSPO warden ). If you're stupid enough to be on the road at school run time , you know what to expect ( obviously not commonsense from other drivers or the wardens ).

We all know that this story is all about another cash-cow -- designed to hit the basically law-abiding citizen - but it doesn't stop me from 'begging disbelief' at the ridiculousness of the situation - it makes me want to spit and to throw my toy catapult out of my playtent -- just as well as I don't live in Peterborough - that little lot would cost me £400 -- and that's before I drop off for a few seconds at the ATM to get money to pay my fines.

Talk about eggsagerating the price ! - I shouldn't complain about Scally's prices.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-47960714

Well - whose the stupid ones? - certainly not the basketball team. If they didn't think they could sell the rubbish at a ridiculous price, they wouldn't market the egg at a £Million a bite !
This reminds me of when my first son was born - I bought some flowers** for Mrs. alwaysright - a dozen red roses. Because it was 2 days before Valentine's, they cost me four times the price it would have been, either a week earlier, or a week later -- the shopkeeper chuckled as she told me this fact (( laughed all the way to the bank.))
My son is now in business -and sells a particular product (( as a sideline to the main business )), for nearly six times the price he pays the wholesaler --He tells me that it is extremely popular, and making him huge amounts of cash ( I don't think the taxman is seeing much of it.)

...... I suppose it's all about supply and demand - if you've got more money than sense, you will buy a product even though you know that it's over priced and probably poor quality ( I haven't mentioned you know what ! )

** At the same time, I also kept a promise to buy a new house, ----- and a brand new - and much larger car - for her ! - and later on, the deposit on both my sons houses - is it any wonder that I haven't got any money left to pay for my funeral. ...........the only egg I will have this morning will be boiled -- and, of course, I do have egg on my face after paying a higher price ( than this year ), for my season ticket for next year -- damn, I wasn't going to mention that !

    It's hard to remain 'positive'
I don't know why Chelsea and some Spurs fans are moaning about the 'anti' football played by Burnley and Brighton ------ as a Gills fan, I've been used to 'negative' football for many years !............... last night's game was awful to watch ( but, in a perverse way, I don't blame Brighton -however, it was pleasing, in the end, that 'cheating' didn't win.

On Friday, I felt that the referee should have given the Plymouth keeper a retrospective card - he p**sed around with goal kicks - taking them from the 'far' side of the 6 yard box - UNTIL - Argyle found themselves 1-2 down -- all of a sudden, he could barely put the ball down before he took the kick -from the nearest side to him --- His earlier antics was sticking two fingers up at the referee --- so, I was particularly pleased that his team got p**sed on by the little boy in the Medway stand...... and of course, I was pleased for my son who won £155 on the scoreline (3-1) . The keeper's time wasting gave Hanlan the extra time to score a very profitable goal.

A senseless waste of life - in the name of religion - so - what is the significance of the gender of the terrorist ?

I feel sorry for ALL victims of terrorism. The fact that so much senseless waste of life is committed in the name of religion is utter madness. I feel for the victims and families of the bombings in Sri Lanka --- the latest news is being broadcast on BBC 1............
Can somebody explain to me why the BBC feel it necessary to highlight the fact, ( twice ), that one of the identified terrorists was a 'woman ?' - if the bombs had been strapped to a child, I could understand any suggested 'surprise ' ( and obvious shock and disgust etc ) - but the fact that one of the terrorists had different genitalia to the others, is irrelevant - a murderer can be of either sex!

On yer Bike - but not your electric scooter !
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48106617

I thought we are supposed to be doing all we can to save the Planet ! - I would have thought that using a scooter would be a brilliant way ( in theory ), in large towns - to discourage the millions of cars etc - but this country decides that it would rather us use cars burning fossil fuel - and all the tax revenue - than to consider the benefits to the ecology to promote the use of transport that will not clog up the streets - not to mention health of the population -----so --- can anyone tell me what the difference is between an electric scooter and electric bicycles ( which are not subject to the same stupid rules ).................. and when do you reckon it will be when the Government will tax walking ?

GIves a new meaning to '****ting a brick.'
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-48206643

I have been to many houses where my toilet would be considered as spotless by comparison ( after a 'deposit ).**
I actually think that the article is a great idea - it's not as if the bricks are likely to look like an unpolished turd ( one for grumpygit ).

** I have been to one house - where, when the owner opened the door, I recognised him from a TV program featuring Secret Hoarders. The house in question had been cleared of tons of hoarded rubbish - that the owner couldn't throw away - but which was strangling the interior of the home. The program showed the 'before' and 'after' - when the house was cleared --- BUT -- on my 'coincidental' visit to the place, it was back to being completely blocked with crap -- the owner couldn't even open the door sufficiently to walk through - he had to do so 'sideways' ( at a squeeze ).

Another house I 'coincidentally' visited, I was invited into the rear lounge room -- but had to walk through a hallway - the floor of which was covered in cat and dog excrement. I needed to 'inspect' the kitchen of this home - I was appalled to find EVERY inch of work surface littered with mountains of unwashed plates, cups, cutlery, pots and pans -- and the entire floor space - and ALL the doors of the base units, were splattered with more excrement.

I was disgusted with what I had seen. I felt dirty ! I had to speak to the owner on the subject. (( how on Earth does one do this with tact ? )) -- -----" excuse me, is your house usually covered in **** ? - I was staggered when the owner took offence to what I pointed out - as being a health hazard. She said that her place was only 'dusty' !! NO - it was covered in - well - you know by now --- I reckon I could have collected enough to build a sh - ed.

...... btw -- the householder owned a restaurant in my local town !!

    Common sense !
My mum has severe dementia. She has 'Home' carers - several times a day. The carers are 'supposed' to do 'everything' for her - including the preparation of her meals...... Due to mum's awkwardness, it has been necessary for me to cook ALL of her meals, when I visit her -and place them in Tupperware containers, and put them in her freezer. To assist matters, I stick labels ( with dates ), and heating instructions, on each pot. I also provide a daily meal plan - including details of any days when I visit, or if mum is with other family. This should allow for a balanced diet All the carers need to do is to put the pot in the micro-wave.

On 6th May,( Bank Holiday ), mum did not go to the Age UK day centre --- where she would normally have her main meal of the day --- hence NO main meal is 'labelled' for her - as a light 'tea' is enough. Because she missed the visit to the Day Centre, the carer used some common sense - and used a main meal dated for 7th May. On the 7th, the carer used the meal labelled for 8th May.
When the carer arrived on the 9th May, she found NO 'labelled' meal for that day ( having been used on 8th ). The carer then had a mental blackout !!! - and lost grip of any common sense with which she had been born. She did not follow what her colleagues had done on the previous few days - ( i.e. to use a 'subsequent' meal ). She wrote in the care visit folder, that no meal for that day was available. She claimed to have tried to contact family - without success, and did not follow this up ! (( what if it had been an emergency )). The carer did NOT provide my mother with alternative food ! --- and with mum not wanting to make a fuss, the carer left ((( one of the reasons why the current arrangement is in place is because - in the early stage of the home-care visits, the carers would ask mum want she would like THEM to cook for dinner. -- mum would say "don't worry, I'll do it later." - what then happened was that mum fed herself with biscuits, crisps, cake, popcorn and other crap food - resulting in health 'issues.' ))).
I always make sure that her fridge is well stocked with ham, cheese, corned beef, chicken slices, bacon, eggs OMELETTE ANYONE ? There is also much in her freezer that can be cooked -- AND, I always have 'cooked' chicken, sausages, individual pies and quiches in the freezer - which only takes a few minutes to defrost -- there is also a mountain of food in her larder, including rice and pasta. --- but -- NO -- the carer left mum without a meal -- despite several notes, highlighted in bright ink, specifically telling the carer to 'ignore' mum when she declines the offer of food - to the detriment of her health !

Please remember - it is actually the responsibility of the carer to make a meal for mum. They are getting paid for this service ! - not to complain that I haven't wiped their arse for them ! Do I really need to give the carer a lesson in common sense ??

We had an absolute nightmare with mum's original care agency - I believe I have posted some of the horrendous problems we had with them - in the end, we had to 'sack ' them - and engaged the current crop of carers.
Bear in mind that the family ( chiefly me ), is doing practically ALL the work for which we pay a lot of money - I was astonished that the carer's tone was to complain of our lack of duty. I haven't raised the point with their office - I do not want the carers to exact revenge on my mum ---- I have now placed an idiot note in their folder - to invite them to make an omelette or similar from the ingredients that are always freely available in mum's fridge - if the situation arises where no 'labelled' meal is available.

I'm no expert - but she's only got two - why don't you have a look ? - you might want to use the otoscope in your hand

Whilst we're talking about the lack of common sense ----
I had to take my mum to her GP surgery - to have her ears syringed by the Practice Nurse -- who had similarly treated my mother on previous occasions. We went into the Nurse's clinic, and mum was asked to sit. The nurse then asked " Which ear are we doing ? " I couldn't believe my ears - that she had to ask. The nurse was holding her otoscope, and I was expecting that she might want to check both ears.......
Now if it had been the linesman on the GRS side of Priestfield, I would have called him all the stupid ***** under the sun. I had to stop myself from making my ( usual) sarcastic remark. ). I politely said that I think it might be both ears.
I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised at the general lack of common sense -- but I fear for my mental health - I'm sure all the head shaking I do id not good for me.

I'm surprised they still do syringing, I thought it was now considered safer to use the suction method.
It's the method used at the hospital now.

I shall find out - my suspicion that the nurse would ' fail' came true. She gave up the task - couldn't successfully clear mum's ears - and is sending her to hospital.
( I reckon I could use one of my Dyson attachments )

Just watched the Play-off game between Portsmouth and Sunderland. I was pleased that Portsmouth didn't get through to Wembley - and not just because it keeps a 'short' distance away game for the Gills next season - but - because I was disgusted at some of the thuggery I saw from Portsmouth (( and not just from the players )).

In the 2nd half, Sunderland's Luke O'Nien was shoved into the crowd. He landed in front of a section of charmless Pompey fans. Their greeting was distinctly Anglo-Saxon - and, one fine fan proceeded to put in his boot as O'Nien lay on the floor. Mayhem ensued for a while -- a few minutes later, Portsmouth Captain, Brett Pitman delivered a torrent of FFF OUR letter niceties - repeating " F****** hurry up" three times - with much anger in his face. At first I thought he was going mental at a Sunderland player - for wasting time -- BUT-- No, his disgusting language was directed at a young, ( Portsmouth fan ) 'ball assistant' - who didn't retrieve the ball quickly enough.............. it's an f****** good job that the youngster wasn't one of my children - I wouldn't let Pitman escape the wrath of my tongue ! Then a bit later, James Vaughan ( Pompey substitute ) smashed his elbow into the neck of a Sunderland defender. He got away without a booking for the foul - AND didn't get booked when he clearly told the referee to " F*** Off " ( obviously been influenced by his Captain ).
I suppose the above incidents livened up a poor game - where the quality of play was nearly as bad as the language....................at least the charmless Portsmouth fan beat the traffic out of town - he even got a Police escort out of the stadium.

There's more point in me making this post............................................................. and there's not much point in that !

Apparently there is a European MP election happening today -- what's the point ? - I may not have voted for Brexit - but we're going to have it - so at least tell Europe " Non" (( one for the older member ))

    Well, beggar me !
Where I live - (( and I'm sure it's the same everywhere )), there is a beggar outside every supermarket. These people are usually men who are quite young. They don't appear until mid to late morning - and sit on the pavement with their begging bowl ( and sorrowful face ).
I am sure that some of them have a 'hard luck' story to give ( I could match them !!! ) - and - in their eyes they may feel justified in scrounging money ((( I would like to add / remind people that I like to be generous to several charities EVERY month ))) - BUT-

If these people are genuinely desperate enough to spend all day, every day, every week etc begging for money - it appears that they need charity to the point that they are willing to demean themselves in public --- BUT -- not to the extent that they might try to spend some time looking for work ( let alone actually doing a job -- of which there will be many available at the job centre ))........... NO- they are quite happy to sit on their anus and beg for money from hard working / tax paying mugs !

I thought the goals are the same size for ALL teams ?
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/48820832

I was eagerly anticipating the England v India game yesterday - but I was left a little disappointed by the attitude of the Indian players. They didn't make a real fight of it ! They scored only 27 runs in the first 10 overs (( when England were allowed 2 players outside the 30 yard inner circle -- thus having fewer players guarding the 'short' boundary )). Also Dhoni's tactics in the last half dozen overs were crazy -- he just pushed the ball for singles - when he should have been looking to slog the ball.
England won by 31 runs - but that margin is nothing in this format of cricket - literally achievable in a couple of overs................. but ---

The Indian captain claims that the boundary on one side of Edgbaston was too short ( yet the Indians could only hit one six in their innings ! ). Does he fail to understand that the conditions were the same for both teams...................................

maybe it explains why Gills can't score at some grounds - the goalposts are obviously narrowed according to the direction in which we attack

I know why Hitler lost the War - he didn't have a whistle ! ((although he did have one ball ))

I'm watching the Women's game v USA. The play got stopped because a USA player went down injured. After she received treatment, the referee resumed play with a 'dropped ball.' -- which I thought could (( should )) be contested - but - the referee waved away a USA player who approached the position from which the referee wanted to drop the ball - to an England player. The American girl clearly was telling the referee that she would play the ball back to the USA goalkeeper - but - the referee was having none of it - and gave a Nazi style wave to the USA girl - sending her away from the ball................. so has the rule about contesting a drop ball changed - or was Mrs. Hitler with the whistle just making it up as she went along ?
