Hmm Malan is a funny one. He doesn’t look as explosive as the others, but he was/is ranked number 1 in the world. I think they showed a stat that first 18 balls or so he generally goes at juat over 100 but from 18 onwards his strike rate rockets to around 180. Now if he faced 30 balls, great cos you’re looking at 50 plus from 30. If he faces 15 Doesnt look great. It’s hard to leave him out based on his figures, and in some games he’s crucial to get a bit of stability. But you don’t really want him coming in from the 2nd over and wasting those first power play.

Harsh on Morgan, think his batting is top notch abs arguably best captain around in one day stuff.

Think some talented players coming through. Archer when fit, Mahmood had looked great. Phil Salt is very exciting, shame he wasn’t given chance in t20 as did decent in the 50 over game he played getting 60.

Agree about 100 not being different enough. It’s really only the franchise stuff that makes it so different so I do wonder if this is the start of franchise teams becoming more norm in the uk. Maybe getting rid of the county t20 blast?

Yeah, a lot of t20 is smash it as well and it's a straight jacket for bowlers but roy was still able to produce some good stuff.

It's a lot easier look good when the bowler have no option but to deliver in the slot largely with little variation bar pace. All these scoops and sweeps etc are only in the game as people have to bowl in the slot

It's a bat and ball game not a slog it game

So what's the idea behind this 100 then?

T20 is only 120 balls anyway, surely 20 less doesn't make much difference?

I dunno. Just to create a buzz?

They want it done quick so the 10 balls reduce the changes between overs to 18 total not 38 so that speeds it up.

They have put in strategic timeouts though so that's completely yank territory and counter the idea.

I think they want to break the county structure myself and get the big city franchise model. More yank thinking.

Mainly the whole franchise stuff tbh. And trying to make it more simple for kids and newcomers.

blocks of 5 or 10 balls rather than 6 balls an over. Lots of theatrics

Not to mention bands like The Beatles and Kiss where the bass player shared the lead role

    The 100 continues apace.

The fact its on sky one helps.

I wonder how much of it is the fact we are emerging from lockdown and its far easier get in an open air venue or genuine interest. The crowds seem to be flooding in.

    Watching hundred tonight again.

Last night was a collapse and basically a bit too easy then.

Tonight the collapse came.later and there's a reasonable score up.

Does anyone know if they are just reusing old pitches as the wickets are pretty poor for these grounds. I have not checked but the theme seems to be spinners dream mostly with really slow pitches

Imo the entire year has been funked up by England selection and rest policy.

The players are knocking about in the 100 not focused on test and half the players haven't seen a red ball.

Don’t think makes any difference. Most of the batsmen just aren’t good enough red ball players. Root Stokes are only two you’d rely on to dig in and get runs consistently, and stokes isn’t available n
