Did not go to the game today so I cannot really comment on the performance other than to say it sounds a pretty familiar story - all hands to the pumps and defending pretty well but completely toothless up front. The feeble efforts of the management in recruiting 'strikers' are now coming home to roost and we are inexorably slipping towards fulfilling our destiny as favourites for relegation. We need something different (and quickly) if we are to halt this almost inevitable slide but who can predict with confidence any sort of decent result against a resurgent Sheffield United on Saturday? Over to you GT but you (despite your well deserved god-like status at the Meadow) are only a few matches away from becoming yesterday's man, I am afraid to say.
we must be grateful those around and below us are not improving. but for how much longer? i agree our season went wrong way back in july. reasons 1 reluctant manager,. graham wonga turner 2 tight fisted board 3 town are too far out in the sticks-unfashioable club to play for. 4 tight fisted board would not spend on longer term contracts., so how will we hang on to our decent players next summer. peanuts and chicken feed will not build a squad, witness our strike force.
Atcham, I agree with what you say - that is why I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that a fresh approach under new management is needed.
Thankfully we're having a new signings in January ... Mind you, that'll probably mean Nicky Wroe and A.Nother reserve team striker that is suitable for the parent team anymore as they are nearly 21.
i see little point in changing managers until rowland goes or graham calls it a day. we are in a catch 22 position. are the costs of running the club preventing investment in the squad, or is gt not willing to spend. i fear we may have to see this season out whatever the consequences are. little point in speculating on a new man in charge if he has no money to spend. another defeat on saturday and there will be a revolt. come on town floreat salopia! AJ approaching a depressing cold weekend. prove me wrong town.!
Hi Guys, haven't been on here for a while as its..same as,same as, at the Meadow, i haven't been to too many games either as its seems pretty pointless and boring if GT is going to stick to these age old tactics of getting loan players in to fill up most of the team when it seems that our own players are there just to fill in the gaps, its obviously not working and we will probably get relegated this season...i just feel as i cant chuck my hard earned cash at Rowland to squander on his new villa in Jamaica and not invest in our beloved team... i still say its not GT but more RW... i think now we have come to the end of our ambition, just above relegation in the first division!
Welcome back Tinned Hats. I share your frustration but will be going Saturday to see if we can start to climb out of the hole we are now in.
im working at Airbus at the moment and do a bit of overtime sometimes, so ive only been to three games L/Orient Lost 2-0 Oldham 4-1 Lost in the cup and Wolves Lost 1-0 so not feeling inspired, and cant really give much input on how they are playing generally
....strange, I've only ever walked out of one game early in my life....Telford at Wembley in 1969 (or was it '70, can be bothered to check).....and that was to go collecting for charity in London whilst studying! How many matches have others left early?....perhaps that should be a new thread? I know this is not related to the above item but suffering from severe man flu and my mind is wondering and wandering!!!!
I do recall a story about a well known character. He walked out of an FA Cup 2nd replay(those were the days) at Preston with Carlisle beating Shrewsbury. Having placed a sizeable bet on Carlisle to win, he walked into the nearest pub and bought drinks for all and sundry. However, unbeknown to him, Shrewsbury went on to equalise late on and won the game in extra time.
Never left early, don't see the point. You never know what you might miss! Having already paid for the ticket, it also doesn't make financial sense!
I vary rarely leave early but did Leave Chesterfield five minutes early a few years back when we were 4-1 down and I missed two Town goals so I have learned my lesson from that,
I have never left early, but have walked down from my seat in row Q to the front to get out early on a couple of occasions just so we could get out quickly. I imagine that a few leave early to get onto the P&R buses so they're on the first buses out of the ground.
