So, here it is, December the 1st. Time for the yearly Christas thread. As no one cba arsed to post in Suckys one and it's fallen off the page, we need a new one. We need; food drink music plans traditions presents gripes clothes football matches attending etc etc etc All the usual tedious as **** festive type topics.
Sat at home having a coffee with a little bowl of chocolate peanuts on the side Bought the chocolate peanuts off the festive aisle at Tescos on Sunday
No mate I think they were the normal packets but they were displayed at the end of one of the Xmas aisles…that counts imo
Already gone through two packs of mince pies - bakery ones, none of yer Mr Kipling’s factory produced nonsense. Was in Regents Street yesterday, lights are pretty. Bought one present so far, a book for my son (Simon Schama’s History of Britain, Vol 1) Will be glad when it’s all over tbh, but feeling more festive this year than usual; probably because the whole thing is not so in your face. Not going to West Ham vs Saints on Boxing Day, forgot to get a ticket tbh. Going to Highbury 18th December though, so that will be my festive away game. Yo ho ho, ****s
Biggest fear is the media driven "oh look, here's the omnicron, pop back in your boxes you plebs" and they'll engineer a way to 'cancel' Christmas for us all again. You can almost see them rubbing their hands togther in glee as various epidermioligist go on TV to try to say there's nothign to worry about, only to be shouted down by the likes of Mungchetty asking, nay shouting, if there are going to need any lockdows. Admittedly, that probs for the other thread but I can see it ****ing coming. Anyway, Chrismas is at ours, as usual. My Mum not coming down till Boxing day, I have to drive half way up there to meet on the M5 where my older brother is dropping her off. Then repeat the trick on the 29th and she for some utterly ****ing maddening reason thinks there won't be ****ing trains running!! There will otherwise be about ten of us. All cooked and prepped by the Mrs and one of my bro in laws while I just go round pouring drinks. Mainly for myself tbf. The old Christmas eve tradition of ours of a late afternoon pub meal has fallen by the wayside during dark Covid times and been replaced by a chilli and tacos night. Whcih is fair enough by me. I do the meat chilli, she does the three bean. In laws come to that too, and they are then difficult to shift as we attempt to get the kids to bed and bring their presents down and stuff. More to follow, cba a minute. Merry Christmas.
Think I’m going to Spurs v Palace on Boxing Day then we’ve got Bournemouth on the 27th then whisking the missus off for a romantic couple of days in Cornwall via Bristol City away where I plan to meet and possibly rim Piskie.
Turkey from M&S ordered, wine in the garage, beer in the garage. Mainly sorted. Going to do a ham with parsley sauce on Boxing Day because nobody ever eats that anymore.
**** knows where we'll get the turkey. I've failed to win one so far so will probably be Tesco as her Mum gets a decent discount as an ex emplyee. Need to order 2 x boxes of red, one from Laithwaites or Virgin and the other from Naked Wines. Usually get given some bottles through work, so will see what comes up before buying. I know I'll need to buy a decent port and a bottle or Merlyn though as I won't get gven that. Will also be given a shed load of cans of Stella by the client, which is alright, and will will buy some ipa's from Flavourly of Beer52 or something. Will make a mulled cider for the street Christmas thing. Not sure when that is, but all the oldies like to sing carols and us yonger ones have a drink out in the street. Quite nice actually.
Taking my middle 'un up to United v Palace this weekend, with a stadium tour on Saturday. Not exactly Christmas football but it'll have do so far as he's concerned, can't be travelling up nearer the time. Got Swans on 29th and that's it for festive football, nothing on Boxing or New Years day.
I hope Piskie is planning on eating nice fiber filled diets for you to make sure he is cleaner down there. If he's not eating his fiber, I wouldn't do it.
It certainly won't be a joint celebration! Bene looking for a London away day to take my sons in the van, and none are convenient. I'm out on 18th. Millwall on Boxing day ffs. Fulham is always mid week. Reading is a possible but not London.
Easier to get to though. Bit of Legoland before/after if they’re that age. **** away day though if you’re looking for away day vibes. If you want that old school away day feel I’d recommend Peterborough.
