It’s another Southampton V Pompey South Coast Derby in the battle of the small venues.

Rock music paper The NME is holding a competition to find the best small music venue and the Joiners has been nominated in the South East section alongside amongst others The Wedgewood Rooms at Pompey, now as fine as that venue is, like its City's football team it’s a mere youngster compared to the Joiners and putting on bands, The wedge as its locally knows has been putting on gigs for a mere 20 years whilst the Joiners has been going since the 70's and earlier.
Over that time some famous names have passed through the doors of the St Mary's Street venue, including Coldplay, Oasis, Primal Scream to name but three and now is the time to make sure that the venue comes out top of the South east heat and gets into the national final.
So get onto the NME website at the link below, cast your vote and do your duty for your City by not only giving your click but e mailing all your friends and family and urging them to do the same.

I remember going to the Joiners for Chemical Beats nights in the late 90's - will never forget them!

    Voting ends today!

I've played the Joiners, so for that reason I will have to go with wedgewood rooms. They were clever enough not to have me.
