Talking with my friends about the current state of our squad and we all agree that the LW postition needs sorting. Adam Johnson would in my opinion be a great signing and a signal of our intent this year. Let's give the new signings up front a chance and see where we are in december. So the question I want to pose is this :

Which 1 position do we need to strengthen and which player do you (realistically) think we can sign?

Messi or Ronaldo won't come to us - our club is too big for them - they seem to prefer the smaller clubs like Man Utd and Barcelona.:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Messi would get clattered by catts in training and would be **** scared to play again. as for ronaldo, dont think we need another pretty boy in the squad with vaughny in the team.

    Johnson won't happen, end of.

There's too few left sided players on the market to be sure of improving the squad if you ask me.

    Found this on newsnow.

Should we make a daft bid?

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has cast doubt over the future of Dimitar Berbatov by appearing to suggest the Bulgarian could leave for Paris Saint-Germain. The French club are reportedly willing to pay between £18-£20m for him.

The left side of the team has needed sorted since Bruce took over and STILL nothing has been done about it, now I support Bruce but this is just blind ignorance and stupidity to go into his 3rd season with no recognised left back or left winger.

Having said that I am happy with his replacements after the mass exodus of loanees and the squad at present should be able to reach a tenth place finish again but the next step up will require some big investment next summer with 2 or 3 absolute quality signings needed.

No way - we need people who work - he's a rich mans Kenwyne Jones (on a much higher level admittedly) but he will not graft for the team when the going gets tough which it inevitably (at some point) does for us through a season!!

Yeah liked Shaquiri evey time I've seen him. Seen him play as a second striker somewhere as well and look comfortable there as well. Looks a bit chunky though don't you think might need a Gyan type period to get his fitness up.

He's got a Sess/ Alexis Sanchez sort of build mate, short and powerful. Don't know how much of an issue fitness would be! Mind you he's currently playing in the Swiss top flight so would be a step up in terms of quality.

Noooo thanks ... Good footballer (sometimes) personality of a wet fart and never, ever looks happy (anyone ever seen him smile?)
Earning 6 figure salaries each week must turn you into a right miserable c**t!

As far as buying anyone goes I think our spending could well be over until Jan but I do think Bruce will bring in a couple of good loans and wouldn't be at all surprised if they've never been linked with us previously.

    agree with Disco

Barnetta or Shaquiri would be briliant signings and both left wingers (for there clubs) Brucie sign one of them up

Defore would be a hell of a signing like but do you reckon we need a striker more than a left winger Commachio?

Interesting debate, some are crying out for left wingers, some left backs and some for proven strikers. For me it's a left winger.

Basically yes, i go against the common belief.

    I want to see a 4-4-2.

Sess is NOT a striker, so as much as it will piss people of (bothered). I want a striker. We have a ready made l/w come striker in Sess.
