very temted see a live gig but havent had chance yet one of my family went see rihana but said the sound was very loud right near the front i think though £75 a ticket a bit on the expensive side love to see an old 80s act thourghts
It is a terribly difficult venue for sound. The shape and acoustics of the room make it extremely difficult to get an even and consistant sound throughout the venue. My tip for anyone going to any gig is to stand/sit as near to the sound mixing desk as possible. The sound engineer is mixing the show so if your close to him you will hear what he is hearing. If you want to go to a gig at a decent small venue check out www.leamingtonassembly.com won the best venue in the UK in 2011 In London KoKo's is really good, so is The Roundhouse and Brixton Academy. As you can probably tell this is what I do for a job, in fact talking about 80's bands I did a gig with Blancmange tonight.
Been to the one in Islington, last day of the London Ska Festival. Brilliant venue, loved it. Small enough so you feel close to the acts, excellent sound, room with a balcony upstairs, air con, easy getting served at the bars. Recommended.
