After walking around on air last week Ive really come down to earth with a heavy thud this week.It makes no sense to me at all to field a really strong side at WBA only to put a team without Holt in against Liecester.PL said he's more concerned about the league so rested him.

If a player like Holty cant get up for Man U then noone can.Im just so gutted that PL has disregarded the cup in this way.Am i being out of order here or does anyone feel the same.I honestly think we are as safe as houses for staying up and i think we have missed a glorious chance of getting to Wembley.

To top it off i turn the tv on to see Sunderland field a good side and they have less points then us.Cant shake this one off lads, sorry.

Relaaax, It's only the cup. We played poorly and we got beat. It's not the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination.

Good reality check for next weeks game and hopefully a massive performance on the way.

It sounds like we didn't put in a shift today in some ways I can see why people are annoyed, but let's be honest once we're an established Premier League club we'll give it another go there is plenty of other opportunities. They've hyped up in the media that the winner of this game get's a million quid but think of it this way how much will a higher place in the league earn us?

Clearly the vibes that lambert gives off about the cup rub off on his team. Reckon they didn't get much of a rollicking at half time
I'm not too fussed either.lets move on, we rarely do two bad performances in a row

Don't think any of the players need resting to be honest, they'd of had a week as it is. I dare say we'll probably lose to Man U anyway.

In Lambo's defence I think he thought the side he put out today were good enough, but they played very poorly.

Its easy to say "its only the cup" & "move on" but this was a fantastic chance to get a Wembley apperance & pos even a chance of Euro football.
What hurts the most is that they clearly didn't think this game was important and that a game next weekend v Man u, which is a game which we aren't expecting to get much from was more so ?
It would take a monumental **** up for us to go down from 35 points, so why oh why didn't we go all out today ?
Yes Leicester were ok but thats about as good as i thought they were, in truth we were so bad that at times we made them look good !
Really hurt & dissapointed right now, just seemed so wasted an oppertunity!

"It's only the cup" adequately sums up my feelings on the matter.

I don't mean to be in any way offensive Cruyff but I just don't understand how you can feel that way! Wouldn't it be the absolute best feeling in the world to watch your team proudly walk out onto the Wembley turf? By not taking the cup seriously we run the risk of becomming exactly what I dispise about the Premiership - the Aston Villas and Evertons of this world who happily go about their business managing to survive year in year out in the top division and do precisely what else?

And for all the people who will say "ah, yes but Chris, we need to stabilise in the Premier League first and then we can kick on and fight for the FA Cup another season!" Deluded is all I can say to that. Opportunities to progress in the cup when the really big guns have knocked each other out come along all too rarely. Effectively, of those left in the draw, only Tottenham I would fear we would be unable to take on and beat.

And as for stabilise in the Premier league - well if anyone thinks it will be this easy next season or the season after then you are crazy. Effectively we have won the best of the rest category this year after 25 games, thats all. Hopefully we will be able to say that after 38 games too. Next year though we may be sitting in or close to the relegation spots after 25 games - will we field a strong side then in the cup... no of course not. Fingers crossed we will be in the Premier League for many years but how many times in those years will we be effectively safe from the drop come FA Cup 4th/5th round time?

    Wasted, wasted opportunity today!

I just feel that the whole ethos surrounding the FA cup has changed.Admittedly it used to be a highlight of the season but for me it has lost it's magic. The only point that I really disagree with PL on is really a mathematical one.He clearly doesn't believe that we are safe yet and is probably working to 42 points as a safety line, whereas I feel that 3 more points will definitely be enough.I think PL looks at the table and our upcoming fixtures and thinks that the margin could quickly shrink, that isn't going to happen.

But who are we to second guess him?If he had played Grant Holt from the start and he had been badly injured then everyone would be blaming him for that. Then if we had lost three or four on the trot...

What do you mean exactly Beefy, "It's only the Cup" ? Pray tell me what other trophy we would have a cat in hell's chance of winning ? Especially when we ARE safe from relegation and were 2 wins away from Wembley ?

Even if we had played Holt/Surman/Ruddy/Naughton who's to say we would have won? Lambert and all of us thought the line-up he put out could do it, but it didn't.

I mean that in our current situation surely a strong finish in the premier league is far more benficial to our long term plans than a cup game.

We could have got anyone next and lost to them, thats what the cups all about. A strong finish is by far the priority
