With the score at 2-1 and Taarabt having just scored another great goal, it has just been proven for me at least, how little Mark Hughes knows about being a manager. Once again we are witnessing a completely abject defensive display, with Hughes for the umpteenth time in his tenure, picking completely the wrong team. How is SWP allowed a place even in the 25, let alone the starting 11 when Hoilett and Taarabt can create more in a single substitute appearance than he's managed so far this season? Why is Clint Hill being played as a LB, a position it has been proven time and again he is not a good fit whilst Traore remains on the bench? Why the utter **** is Luke Young, probably our best RB last season, still being frozen out for actually standing up to Hughes and his bullshit decisions, whilst Bosingwa, Dyer and Onuoha continue to ship goals? There are many more examples, we are seeing at the club on a regular basis. The defence has not progressed slightly despite more talented players, suggesting problems with the coaching. Still we see problems with discipline, does this mean the players are no longer listening to the manager? In fairness to Hughes, he does deserve credit for the huge improvements that have been made internally at the club, however a manager can only be judged on the field. You may not agree with my point of view, but Hughes has had more money and support than any other QPR manager in history and yet is subjecting us the fans to one poor performance after another. Enough is enough, no more excuses about the players still learning to play with each other. They've all been at the club for a minimum of a month now, and if in 25 or so days on the training ground you still havent learnt how to play with each other, then it is the coaching staff and manager's fault. I am not surprised that we are losing at the Hawthorns, nor would I expect us to pick up points as I think WBA will be a top 10 team this year, but the manner in which both goals have been conceded and the fact that Taarabt has proven Hughes to be unbelivably full of **** with his previous 2 performances, is enough. Rant over, Hughes Out
Yeah. Surely this is enough. We can only hope that he walks out without taking the money to help the club with the money that we need to keep going with a new management team. And that's me being polite, speaking it about it so nicely!
If we change manager now we will be relegated. It would be difficult to replace him with a premier experienced manager quickly. And the longer it takes to replace him the more games we would lose. We need to stick with what we have and hope that he gets it right, its tough I know but sacking him now is not the answer. We need to give Hughes until January and hope we're still in with a shout of staying up. On the other hand I cant understand how Park and SWP are still being picked ahead of Mackie and Hoilet, lets hope MH realises sooner than later. We're in for a long season. So much for "we'll never be in this position again".
You fail to mention that the 1st two goals were down to poor decision making by Anton, is this Hughes's fault also? Yes Traure should have started at left back and playing four midgets in midfield against West Ham was blinkered, but you are judging Hughes based on individual errors which he has no control over. Surely if the individuals concerned can rediscover defending and our midfielders stop gifting the ball away( which our better players eg Granero and Faurlin have been guilty of) then results will come. The display against Spurs shows what great football we are capable of, and again it was only down to individual errors as to why we did not go back to Loftus Road with 3 pts. Hughes WILL get the R'S going on an upward trajectory as soon as our defenders realise that they can actually defend( Chelsea game for example)
What's with Anton being selected all the time ????????? Truth is he's not up to PL standards. Oh, that's right, he's Rio's brother ........... you know, the one who use to play for England. We must keep selecting him purely on that basis ................. yeh, right!
I know you've never been short of a clear opinion or two. It is increasingly hard to disagree with any of these opinions about Hughes. However, I'm not going to join the lynchmob just yet. It remains to be seen how quickly he learns that certain favourites have to be dropped at least for the time being. C'mn Mark. You know who they are. Ferdinand, Wright-Phillips and Park should not be starting another game until they have sorted themselves out. Add to that Onuoha. I don't think I've ever seen anyone who looks as frightened of the ball and as uncomfortable in running with it Park will recover. He looked better yesterday. however he should not have been made into club captain. Bit part player at Man Ure to everpresent ever- reliable genius for us is a few steps too far and too soon. Wright Phillips is in last chance saloon which he needs to earn with solid displays in the reserves, hammering Hughes' door down demanding to be picked and putting the ball in the net/onto a forward's head or feet for a winning goal (One of ours) with some regularity. Ferdinand just needs a good kick up the backside. Whether that does any good is anybody's guess. Going to sleep on the pitch is not and never has been acceptable. For me, once these problems have been resolved (Yes. I am talking about liquidating them from our line up) our performances will pick up. How long that takes will be the key to Hughes' future at LR.
True yet it is the fact that we are seeing these individuals error once or twice a match. You have to wonder what they do in training, if exactly the same sloppy mistakes occur game after game. As it is, the individual errors that we saw yesterday such as Ferdinand's for the 2nd goal, don't worry me too much. It is more the ease at which WBA played through our defence. For example at 2-1, Long managed to win a ball when in a zone of 4 QPR players, all of whom are taller than him. That's a lack of desire as well, as the players being told to keep a rigid shape. Worse however was the throughball that followed that quite literally split our defence in 2. I have absolutely no idea what Hughes is teaching them in training but the rigid back 4 coupled with completely the wrong starting 11 for nearly every game shows me that tactically he is not a good manager, and as far as being a man manager goes, you just have to listen to how he has treated any player who stood up to him. For Barton, I completely agree with what he did, but for someone like Helguson, our top goalscorer and an infinetly better holdup man than Zamora, it bloody disgraceful the way Hughes treated him. Considering the caliber of player we have has improved leaps and bounds since Hughes took over, the lack of progress and failure to even slightly improve the defence, means for me, that he should go
You would hope that in training the players are showing enough to warrant their selection, if this is not the case then obviously Hughes is at fault. The through ball that you mention was again down to bad positioning from our defensive " unit ". I was glad to see Anton back as he did put in some decent displays towards the end of last season, however his head was clearly not with it, which Hughes should probably have picked up on prior to selection, and until Anton is in the right place then its back to Mbia and Nelson with Diakite as the holding midfielder. Hughes does have his favourites which is a concern as SWP and Zamora are not creating, and therefore should not be starting, its whether or not Hughes has the bottle to make the changes required, i know most fans on this site would say not, but lets wait for the Everton line up before crucifying Hughes further.
