The atmosphere at The Gate seemed different to me today. People seemed to be more positive and I sensed that the crowd was there to get behind the team, the players got more encouragement than usual even coming off after the pre match warm up... The team also played a lot sharper, more incisive football than we have for a while and both Sam and Paul Anderson could have had hat tricks today. What was the difference...? For me, it was that for the first time in a long time, we had 11 players on the pitch (inc the 3 subs), who all have confidence in their own ability. There were no weak links and Anderson looks like a proper winger in the old tradition to me with some incisive runs and most importantly, doing what a winger should do which is to come into the box to give us more scoring chances when the ball is crossed from the other side. Also, our centre half in Matthew Bates deserves a mention as he was unlucky a couple of times when trying to play a 1-2 to leave himself clean through on the keeper when we were piling on the pressure. Classy player and I hope we can keep him to the end of the season as he will only get better as he gets fitter. Yes, the defence still needs to concentrate for 95 minutes but this is the reason why I am not worried about our survival because we DO have this in our locker, Posh couldn't really have complained if we had hit 7 or 8 today and with a bit more luck, we would have... Keep calm and carry on....!
Well written mate, let's hope todays match is a confidence booster to all on and off the pitch, remember 'always believe'!
The crowd were defiantly behind the team today. Even singing before kick off I have often wondered wether Del has not played Anderson unless he had Cunningham in the side, but played him in a free role with Foster on the left. Bryan looked good coming on in place of Foster who will be out for a few weeks now.
Stephen Pearson to return to training on Monday after knee injury, which required an injection. Richard Foster suffered hamstring injury; expected to miss Millwall away. Danny Wilson also recovering from hamstring back at Liverpool
The positives.......it's a massive 3 points and so well done for that....... but; I won't get as excited as some though.....for 78mins against 10 men from a struggling Pboro side....AND we still let 2 in....
I wasn't there but to be fair, 1 was a penalty which sometimes you cant help, and the other looked like we took our foot off the pedal and invited danger. Had it been 2-1 we would of defended differently
Not disputing Peterborough's position but they were on a run beating Cardiff away, (first team this season I believe to beat them at home this season) Bolton, and then Wolves away. So in fairness we could take a bit of credit for ending that?
Penalty was a shoot ourselves in the foot moment I feel sorry for Heaton today did nothing wrong and had two goals passed him just glad we don't have the posh one or we be completely ****ed he was awful
