She had zero interest in football . Zero.

No politician did back then it was only post 1990 (and then only very slowly) that politcians realised it was a vote winner and in their interests to pretend they liked it.

It was the ****er Colin Moynihan who led the anti football legislation, Thatcher rubberstamped it.

Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Clegg Cameron: how mant grounds do you think this lot have visited between them?

Even Blair's wily no. 2 Alistair Campbell hated it: he was a Burnley fan ffs

Almost anything the FA say or do is bound to be suspect as they lack vision, leadership , independence and courage. A craven organisation.

There are too many 'minute's silence's at football.

Blame the sweet FA for this- they have set the bar very low.

Fabrice Muamba's dog, some ex director of the club etc .....all have to be remembered.

Not strictly true. Wilson was keen to associate himself with the team of '66, inviting them to no.10 with all the press there to take pictures. He also called for an election shortly after the final as he knew the 'feel-good' factor around the country would allow him to gain a greater majority.

When you look back at the 1990 World Cup, it gave us all something to believe in, times were hard like now - compare back then to now and the England set up hardly inspires the masses does it?
Can't ever see us coming together as a footballing nation like that ever again.
Lucky to have been around at that time, life was ****e but England made me proud again.

I hope they try to organise a national 1 minute silence. The respect it will be given will be a proper measure of the respect with which she was and is held. Even the press and media won't be able to gloss over that.

    Are you serious?

You have no idea...you will be lucky if there is not a huge crowd at the funeral all jeering never mind a one minute silence!!!

She never gave us any peace now people will not give her any.

Her own party gave her respect when they kicked her out...

Had it stayed as a discussion on the rights and wrongs of a minutes silence at football I'd have left it but I can only see this going the way of the one yesterday.
