    Overall :

Top two finished with goals for > 100. <applause>
    Top 4 separated by 7 pts. <applause>
    Highest pts tally for 4th place. (79) . :( :(

    Spurs :

The AVB/Timmy combo equalled the points tally of 2011/12 (which was
when we allegedly played our best football for ages) .

Home performance : same as last season.
Away performance : lost one more game than last season.

IMHO the overall standard was low (which is why 4th is 79 pts and Spurs got 69 pts
playing so dire) . The GD is the biggest indictment of this season for Spurs.

    MVP this season

    1. Y.Toure
    2. Suarez
    3. Gerrard
    4. Hazard
    5. Silva
    6. Aguero
    7. Baines
    8. Kompany
    9. Lallana
    10. Ramsey (shame for him injured early)

Top six in a class of their own - players who individually can turn many games.

6-10 is more subjective - Nasri, Marshall, Cech, Cazorla, Barkley, Sterling, Coutinho, Henderson, Bony, Fernandinho, Eriksen, Rooney (carrying a poor Utd team), Coleman, Zabeleta, Mertesacker, Cahill, Jagielka (among defenders) all impressed at different times.

    If only...
avb and sherwood in the same season,
3 losses to fat sam conceding 7 and scoring 1,
3 losses to the goons conceding 5 scoring nil,
5nil at home and 4nil away to pool,
5-1 at home and 6nil away to city
    4nil away to chelsea,
    Losing to relegated norwich,
Failing to beat nearly relegated west brom,

This season will gimme bloody nightmares for months <laugh>

"This season will gimme bloody nightmares for months"

For all you stated, it was only 3 pts worse at the end.
I see this season more as an opportunity badly wasted by AVB.

Yeah pretty much agree with all of that, I'd add Lloris and Jay Rodriguez to those that could challenge the 6-10 spots.

As for the season in general, the table somewhat makes things look better than what they actually are. 69 points is not a bad return by anymeans but when you consider some of the results we've endured and the performances we've had to witness, it's amazing we actually have 69 bloody points.

Glad it's over, here's hoping to a de Boer appointment Summer :D

The thing is, when I did some stattery on AVBs' 16 games this season against the 7 seasons Spurs
have been in the fight for a CL slot, the only thing on paper to have been concerned about was the goals for.
The other three aspects I considered were quite insignificant.

Someone could look at the stats and say it should have been 10 goals better.
And that even at that stage, he was perhaps gifted 5-6 pts he shouldn't have had.
Looking at the actual games themselves would then tell you why those 10 goals were lacking, and
that he was indeed 5-6 pts fortunate.

  14. Stats mean nothing. Apparently, Arsenal spent 128 days at the top of the table and £ity only 15.

In the end, points mean nothing if they are not backed up by the final position in the league.

    "Stats mean nothing."

When you collate "nothing" stats (like the Goon one - did they win a Cup for that ?? :) ) .

Not sure, but I hear that this year's DVD stops at Day 128, and the closing shot on the disc is that of the league table on that day.

A season to forget for sure.

Under AVB we played the worst football I have ever seen a Spurs team play week in week out, he clearly never appreciated how much Bale carried the team last season.

Sherwood gave us some entertainment early on but numerous maulings by the larger clubs were completely unacceptable. He's not tactically astute enough to manage at this level, yet.

Having said that Sherwood surpassed my expectations points wise and I've actually grown quite fond of him as a character. You can't help but respect the way he got on with things despite the clear indications that he was only interim. The club have treated him shamefully in my opinion and I wish him well wherever he ends up next, maybe Blackburn.

Another season of failure and regression .
Liverpool were the shining light as they showed everyone that if you want to truly compete
you do not sell your best players every 2 years . Sadly it is nearly impossible to compete with the
Viagra clubs . Great attacking football.

Defoe had a renaissance when AVB arrived but faded and Adebayor had a renaissance when Sherwood took over then faded so we needed a consistent striker but just didn't have one. So much promise in some matches just came to nothing as yesterday. The team gave the spectators nothing to cheer for a long period and it was the same throughout the season.

In the Europa we started with a five goal away win ant then struggled at home against the same team only scoring three and that set the scene for the rest of the season. Certainly a season to forget.
