COC isn't our priority hash, let's get that straight. I know a trophy is good and all, but EL and the PL have got to be our priorities. That doesn't excuse the performance but it does justify BR's weaker selection. I really hope we continue to shift deadwood in the summer and hopefully a game like that will have confirmed to BR finally who should go (Cole and Downing I am looking at you)
Sir_Red. Yes the PL is our priority but would it not be easier to try get Europa in a potential 4 more games than 29/28 whatever is left in the league. TBH we're not getting it through the league, so I guess all our eggs are in the EL basket. I do agree about the deadwood and I think it'd be easier for everyone involved to just pay them off and rip up the contracts.
i agree with hash. if we're not arsed about winning this then why bring on gerrard and suarez? if he wanted to win it why not start with them?
Exactly , he brought them on at H/T so if things went a different way and extra time was played they'd have 75 mins. Why not start them and if things are going well <we're winning by more than 1> take them off on the 55/65 mark
Far too early to have any idea where you'll finish in the league fella, If you beat us on Sunday then the league begins to look completely different. Everyone in that middle bunch (Newcastle, Liverpool, Fulham, West Ham etc) are only two wins off top 4/5 and also only a couple defeats from the bottom 5/6. It's all very compact in the table due to not even being a third of the way through the season.
We don't really lack quality, what we lack is numbers. We're at least 6 senior players short of where we should be. Last summer Liverpool were at a cross-roads, we could easily have kept Kuyt, Bellamy and Maxi and had them on high wages. Getting rid of them was a risk. However in the long run, that risk may work in our favour. Yes, there is at least two players that will be playing first team football at new clubs by the start of next season (Downing and Cole). Carragher will retire. I reckon by the time we're finished the next 3 transfer windows, we could see at least 10 new faces and no more than 4 departures.
Thanks for that , but having watched every game this season, I think I can hazard a guess as to where we'll be and that's too far behind before the January transfer window in which we'll sign nobody because Borini will be fit in February.
Totally agree Hash. BRs just said he was hoping to rest Suarez tonight but he's the only striker we've got (and he's got a strike rate that would make Andy Cole laugh his head off...ok BR didn't say that bit). Is he having a dig at the owners there? **** result but whatever we think of the team we put out we had players there who should be fighting for their places and frankly they just don't give a ****. Same old same old, tactically we are totally predictable, the squad is threadbare, we can't defend anymore and we were beaten fair and square AT HOME...AGAIN.

You've spent a fair amount of time on this board talking about patience with the likes of Lucas, Henderson & Kenny and yet you don't seem to extend that patience to Rodgers. There's a word beginning with H that sums up that sort of viewpoint. Does anyone know that word is?
Fingers crossed for an Arsenal v Chelsea final for both our sides otherwise that's likely to be another EL place taken up.
