Lost count of the number of clubs who've gone into second place in the Championship - and quickly come unstuck... QPR and Cardiff are the only teams who have been able to progress from there so far. With Norwich, in great form, seemingly invinceable and peaking at just the right time, going down so convincingly at Swansea yesterday, that second place spot is now looking a bit ominous. Spooky even... just ask Forest who were doing so well before reaching those dizzy heights. Is second in this league some sort of poisoned chalice and a sign of things to come? What price the eventual Championship runners-up ending up in bottom place in next year's prem? Notwithstanding the quids-in factor about promotion, I'm starting to think I'd rather my team QPR having to fight it out in the play-offs (after a run of bad form and/or a points deduction) than getting that ominous second place! I'd be interested to see if others are thinking along similar lines. Is second spot bad karma?
As a Forest fan I would have to say a resounding yes! Since we got second spot we have collapsed and were not the only team this has happened to
Let's see if Cardiff can hold on to second place this time. More's the point, whether my prophesy that the Championship runners-up spot is jinxed and they (whoever gets it) sink like a lead balloon next season...
Nope, Cardiff back down to third. With three games to go, can't see Norwich dropping points now. If that's the case, the poisoned challice will be their's - or ours (QPR) if that's how the FA want it...
Confirmed. Norwich has it on merit. If we have any spell-breakers on the forum, please get rid of that second place jinx. I don't want to see them struggle next year. They're a great club!
