He just won't follow the script will he! Twat keeps winning! What the mags gonna moan about now? Seriously though, they're proving that a bad start to the season doesn't need to define it. Look at the league table and we are just a few points off from having a reasonably good start to the season. There are some real positives to take from our first 11 games. Good to see both teams moving away from the bottom 3 places, admittedly us a little slower than the mags. Would love to see the Smoggies up there with us as well next season. That would be good for NE football.
Agree entirely with the NE sentiment. I would far prefer the three teams are doing well in the Premiership - so long as Newcastle are doing best... ps. Hull don't count as NE for these purposes, they're out on their own with Grimsby
Well said on lots of levels. Pardew still has a long way to go to make up for his embarrassing behaviour though. It's a start and that's something I suppose. Just glad to be seeing half decent football after the crap we've seen over recent months.
Got a good squad the mags, they'll be fine. We've got a good squad too, just a little on the small side which have made it difficult with injuries. I think both teams will be safe going into the last stretch.
This is what makes football so addictive; LFC supporters and their love of King Kenny who has only had average to low management skills, and the current situation at NUFC because of the recent run of wins - ffind a bandwagon and jump on it. Must admit to modern supporters making me smile when they want instant everything as that is what they have in life without realising that building, reshaping, or just settling down teams does require time. The only thing left now is for the genuinely sensible NUFC supporters to raise a banner praising Pardew and balance will be restored.
Ah but, look at the gap between is and a, just enough put "not" in there. Not daft these lads especiallyh when they run out of sheets.
It would be great both of us going for a champions league place !. They could win the league cup, if Chelsea go out at Derby and we might win the f a cup and finish 10th.
It's what supporters do. The bad results by NUFC have been balanced out be the last 4 wins, so ha'way man get your happy banners out, or at least organise a boycout against the boycoutters.
Totally agree with the OP. My sentiments exactly - and not just for the three top teams but for the rest of North-East football too. Would love to see a few more league teams instead of them disappearing like Darlington, with Hartlepool and Carlisle (not NE but still local) looking in danger this year too. Hopefully they can hang on and Gateshead can go one better than last year. I even agree with Nostalgic. It takes time to replace sold players and to re-build a team. Too many were too quick to write Pardew off. It's not that he didn't deserve criticism because he did, but some of it was way over the top - including the idiots from sackpardew dot com. Some of them will never accept him no matter what he does now, which to me is stupid.
With Pardew it really is boom and bust, we have hideously long periods when we are abhorrent then a run of games when everything clicks and we string together a ridiculous run of games. The result is that we have won 5 games on the bounce but I'm still pretty sure he has very little idea how/why. To me he's a mildly offensive soundbite with a random result generator in his pocket. That opinion hasn't really gone up or down this season, but neither has the view that we're unlikely to get anyone better.
I must admit, I thought they'd drop like a stone these last 4/5 games but they're doing something right. I'm reluctant to hand the credit to Pardew but credit where it's due, he's the manager. Janmaat has come out and said he's every bit as good as Van Gaal and Koeman which isn't exactly reassuring for me but I'm hoping he was a bit pissed at the time when he said that.
