"It is understood that Town's new board are concerned over his possible resale value at the end of his contract when he would be 30 years old." Yeah could never get £1m out of him now

Staggering to think that was only just over 3 years ago. We've come so far!

On a brighter note for the 'Udders, they got rid of Lee Clark, who seems to be working his magic at Brum! <laugh>

They're not doing bad either and I wonder whether they could follow Norwich and us in going straight through the championship.

They did have Rhodes who turned out to be immense, and then they sold him...

I was thinking about this the other day. To be fair although Lambert had long deserved to move on from Rovers I don't think anyone could predict he would be scoring goals in the Premier League within 3 seasons.

Rickie has proven the doubters wrong at every level. I remember at the start of last season people doubting his ability at Championship level!

Rickie has been the leading scorer in his division for the last 4 years. The odds of him doing it again must be dropping fast, so get in there quick!

I think for every saints fan Lambert has been a personal victory for us in terms of banter. I cannot count the number of times that i've been told by people that he wouldn't score in a higher division or he is too 'lazy' or 'slow'. I specifically remember one Reading fan telling me "Southampton aren't Norwich, Rickie Lambert isn't Grant Holt. You should be happy for a mid table finish this season (last season)", well not only did we equal Norwich Lambert outscored Holt when he was in the Championship. Plus Lambert is just a top guy, and his penalty record speaks for itself. He needs his own motto "Rickie Lambert, proving doubters wrong year after year after year".

I admit to thinking 50/50 whether we would see goal 100 from him this season. If he stays fit(touch wood) then it just appears to be a matter of when.
Did he ever win the league 2 golden boot?

Unfortunately he didn't - that's not to say he didn't come close. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalScorers/0,,10794~200526,00.html

Also feel free to cast your eyes down the list to the other Rochdale striker...
