    so.....

    1. england are seriously struggling for keepers... well done there capello for alienating so many.

    2. not a great selection left at CB is there? jagielka and cahill... ah well maybe jones and smalling will keep ocming through...

    3. right full looks poor... richards is a thick.

    4. barry is exactly why england will never do anything. how on earth is he still getting picked?

    5. in fact i'd have to say that if you take rooney out of that line up of names you've a very athletic but one dimensional side with zero creativity.

a lot less than welbeck it seems. though in fairness sturridge did only just get his second and third league goals yesterday. If you look at the squad there are two tall men in carroll and zamora and two speed merchants in bent and welbeck so.... again take rooney out of it and capello just picks height and pace. sturridge is completing with welbeck for a slot it seems.

After the goal he scored Kyle Walker will have 'earned' his call up. Yet Martin Kelly can do everything right at right-back and just about get a mention..

Good question. I'd have Sturridge over Carroll all day long <ok>

I wonder whether Carroll will actually get to put a foot on the turf, or whether it will just be another chance for the media hacks to entice Fabio into tacitly slagging off Carroll again ("...needs to work harder... ...too much drink... ...not fit enough...")

I recon Andy could score a hattrick for the redmen, and still end up on the receiving end of criticism from Don Fabio, thanks to the hacks asking 'leading' questions...

I agree with that. However what is the fascination with Milner? I don't rate him.
The only difference between him and Joe Cole is £26 million. Joe Cole has the experience, and woudn't be a bad impact sub. They play exactly the same role, I call it the ''neither a winger or central midfielder'' role. Maxi played it for Argentina and Athletico Madrid and does on occasions for Liverpool.
Even with Rooney in that side, you have an athletic but non creative side, as Rooney has a tendency to disappear against decent opposition. He did against France, and they WERE a top side, but aren't the best of the best anymore.
