...and the rest of the West Ham management for lacking the foresight to see what Tony Fernandes could have brought your club. As a reminder: QUOTE Tony Fernandes has hit back at West Ham owners David Sullivan and David Gold after his bid to buy the club was criticised. Tit for tat: Tony Fernandes has become embroiled in a war of words with David Sullivan Photo: AFP 03 Jun 2011 Fernandes, the Malaysian businessman behind AirAsia and the Lotus Formula One team, announced yesterday he had submitted an offer for the club he supports. But Sullivan told the Evening Standard yesterday: "Tony Fernandes wanted to buy 51 per cent of the club for two bob." Fernandes, though, fired back with a series of messages on Twitter. "Make up your mind sullivan and gold. One minute you say no offer then you say its a joke offer. It was a good offer with good money and brought in good people." Three follow-up messages said: "Gold and sulivan can say whatever they want. I have been a lifelong fan and would have brought good money, good ideas, new people and a new belief As for PR stunts. Wow. They are always in the press making huge claims. Were we not supposed to be in europe. Now we have been relegated. 2 sacked managers. All good players will be sold. No new trainning ground which is the most important ingredient I feel. Look at how many injuries we have. And more investment into the academy." Sullivan had said yesterday: "He thinks somehow that we are desperate to have him involved or desperate for the small amount of money he offered for 51 per cent of the club." Fernandes first expressed an interest in taking over West Ham in 2009 but he lost out on that occasion to Sullivan and his business partner David Gold. Sullivan and Gold do want to attract new investors into a club that is saddled with debts that could rise to over £100 million following relegation from the Barclays Premier League. "We are not looking to sell the club but, as we have always said, we would love co-investors to join us in rebuilding West Ham United, which has been our aim ever since we took charge back in January 2010," said Sullivan. "In the event that a serious investor came forward as was the case at Chelsea and Manchester City, we would naturally consider it for the good of the club - but this is certainly not the case in this instance."UNQUOTE WHAT F*CKING IDIOTS!
Total speculation, but I think what scared these jokers and the highly professional crowd at Norwich off was a very quick realization that our Tone is the real deal and would show them up for the pedestrian hyper cautious thinkers that they are. His ideas and vision, and willingness to back them up with action, are just too much for these guys who are not in fact very financially committed to their club. And we have the best owner in English football as a result. Brilliant.
Blessing in disguise for Fernandes too. Working with those two (three) would've been a nightmare for him. Amit on the other hand...
I don't want to be seen as giving you a bl**j*b FFS, but your posts are excellent. Totally agree mate.
You're right of course Yorkshire, it could all still end in tears. But it's fun to be on the ride. Seems like you were right about the stadium announcement too - very astute. What do you have for breakfast, must try some.......
Can anybody tell me why Amit has gone so quiet lately. I know that our tony loves the media, but Amit has really taken a step back. Would love to hear more from him.
And I don't particularly want to be receiving one from a representative of the Irish armed forces ( surely court martial offence, when involving an English non combatant), but thanks anyway.....
Excellent point. He must feel he had a lucky escape. And what with dodging the relegation bullet in May, no wonder he's got a smile on his face
FFS, i have the weekend off, and i am currently sitting at a bar in Tyre. Seriously, I nearly fell off my chair laughing when i read this.
Don't have a problem with West Ham per se but as for Gold, Sullivan and Brady I struggle not to say anything libellous. Dodgy cùnts the lot of them.
You've only to look at the way they treated Avram Grant and the cock-ups they made with the will they?/won't they? sack him fiasco and then sacked him in the Wigan boardroom. If I'd been Dave Whelan I'd have told them to f*ck off and do their dirty work at Upton Park. They've got no class...
