A very underated player IMHO. Led by example as captain and always gave his all. Scored some cracking goals and will always keep the memories of him lifting the JPT and leading the Promotion Celebrations. Thanks Deano
Hear hear, maybe the Prem was a step too far for him but he definitely played a huge part in getting us here. I'll always remember him swearing on the BBC at the end of the Coventry game. Thanks for everything Deano.
He was our Nobby Stiles. Under valued in terms of the contribution he made over the last three seasons.
It's a shame Sharp and Hammond had to go, 2 very capable players. I wish we got rid of Chaplow and De Ridder instead.
Good luck to him, I was a fan. One of our most important players over the last few years also. PS what is the Brighton fan problem?
Thanks Deano you were an absolute rock for us. We hope you have a good time at Brighton even know you will be playing for a ****
I've really liked Dean Hammond at Saints. Genuine, proper footballer. Every single time Deano has appeared for Saints, he's given 100%. When he played in the League Cup the other night, Adkins said he covered every blade of grass. I wouldn't have expected any less from Deano. Was it a tribute..? This is the bit of the Premier League that I don't like. With the best will in the World, Deano isn't going to play a full game in the Premiership, unless people get injured, and if Saints are going to be the club they intend to be. But I want Deano to get a game or two. He's actually at the wrong club now, because Saints haven't come in to make up the numbers, and that's a shame for him, if not for us. Best wishes to a player with the best of hearts. EDIT: If Deano has gone back to Brighton, then bloody great for him. He's gone to a club who are on the up, and he's been their Captain before. I'd make him Captain again. Brighton have just regained their best asset. Good luck Deano, and I'll certainly be watching on TFLS.
Not often given the credit he deserved, done a lot of the dirty work in midfield last season. Shame he has gone to Brighton as Poyet is a dick, but wish Deano all of the best.
Good luck Deano, again like Sharp I don't think he should have been let go, especially with Cork injured at the moment.
The Premiership is a ruthless league and some of our loyal servants have been left behind: Harding, Hammond, Sharp etc. My only concern is that with such a young side we need some experience and togetherness in our dressing room.
His smile when he scored against Leeds at the beginning of our Championship season is my favourite memory. We outgrew so many players, but would never have got promotion without players like Deano. Good luck to him and thanks for the memory.
I think Ward-Prowse may also have sped up Hammond's departure. One players misfortune is another's opportunity.
Good Luck Dean, one of the most honest footballers I have ever had the fortune to play, and his leadership in the back-to-back promotions will not be forgotten! Also many thanks for lifting the JPT - the first captain to do so in over 30 years. Thanks for all the memories Dean, and good luck!
Cheers Deano for leading us to back to back promotions, his contribution to our history is set in stone as the Captain that led us back to the Premier League.
Does make me feel for Deano and Billy that they have fought and worked so hard to better their careers with the aim of being in the Premiership and they finally get there.... and are deemed surplus to requirements. That is the harshness of the game, but it is extra harsh when the players are decent lads like these two.
Same with Harding, Butterfield, Chaplow etc Yes I know they haven't gone but chances are they won't figure much
