Back to his normal form again I see! 2 goals against Doncaster and everyone was saying where is that Saintsfanalex? Well here I am let's see if the posters who called me out can be man enough to come on here and tell me he was bloody shocking and back to normal.
He was very bad today, granted. Still, I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't looking forward to the retraction of your retraction of your retraction re: Sharp's quality.
Yeah, he didn't play all that well, but then, nobody did, with the exception of Guly and SKD (sort of)
Back to normal? What are we calling normal, how he was at Doncaster (as in, for them, not against them)? In which case today was certainly not normal.
And you asked me not to put you the category with the Chief Neg Heads .... you're heading that way fella. Sharp missed a pen and spent a lot of the game isolated. He needs service into the box to score and didn't really get it today. Alot of those offsides were incorrectly given.
to be fair to him, not including the penalty, he didn't have a lot of good supply, but when it did come to him his first touch was shocking.
Blackpool's defenders had him in their pockets all day! The bloody great lump got beaten for pace every time a through ball was played! Awful penalty also no conviction and after that his head dropped and looked mostly uninterested. Guly played well though and Kelvin! Where the heck was Hammond? Grrr.
You can slate Billy after that, but uninterested? No. He was fighting and shielding the ball waiting for Support.
I didn't think much of his first half performance (although he'ds have almost certainly had an assist to his name, for Guly, had he not been incorrectly flagged offside), but I thought he held the ball up really really well in the second half. Constantly dropped off the CBs, and into space in the midfield, before laying it off the somone. The only problem with that, though it's hardly a criticism of Sharp, is that with Guly also back in midfield we subsequently lacked any prescene up front and thus those moves which Sharp helped to create, never led to anything.
Who amongst any of the outfield players performed well tonight? i don't think any one of them oput in a performance that merited more than 4/10 at best.
Not particularly sure why we signed him, but then again I would have liked Maynard and he has not set the world on fire since he moved to WHAM. Difficult game for him to come into today and I am hoping that Adkins will be able to get more out of him in the long run as he knows him well. Think we missed Lee as well as Lambert today, even as a sub I am sure he could have had an impact.
I am not negative about the team FLT! We will be ok and I expect us to come back strong! Sharp will be great once he's spent the summer under a strict diet and fitness regime. Currently hes nothing more than a crap version of Lambert who just stands still most of the time.
Do you think Nigel and his coaching staff will ever be able to teach Guly to head a ball? Their 3rd goal was reminiscent of Pompey's equaliser except the wimp on the line this time was Morgan.
