What a horrible evening that was, pulling my hair out and ready to top myself, site crashed so nobody to talk to, tried SMB but realised why I don’t use it so jumped to into the light to find me and 5 other users so no joy there.

TBH its just as well the site did crash because I would have said things I would regret, that’s transfer deadline day for Sunderland supporters, so much expectation, so much rumour and such a feeling of frustration and let down.

I looked at Stoke with envy but in the cold light of day I did not want Jerome and Crouch I could take or leave so no, envy not worth it.

QPR worked hard but again I ask did I want them? SWP I would have had but again cant say I’m sorry to have missed out and Anton I’m sorry to see go but lets be honest, most of us have wanted him gone for a few years.

Back to us, I prefer Benbtner to Crouch but still feel dissopointed because I had hoped for a poacher but who knows what was going on behind the scenes, maybe we tried hard but failed.

Today we are where we are and its here that we and Bruce will live or die by, don’t see any BoB’s becoming BiB’s but I can see a lot of BiB’s becoming BoB’s.

I will stick at being a BiB for now because its all I can do but my bag is packed and I am ready to jump ship because we don’t have any more time for excuses, bad selection and formations, 4-4-1-1 against Chelsea and I can see a mass move to the BoB side of the street.

I could just about forgive a Richardson at LB selection if it was Bardo-Oshea-Brown-Richardson but would prefer Bardo at LB with Titus or Turner alongside Brown.

Midfield must have Larssen right and Sess left, I can accept a few options in the middle but not Elmo on the right.

And if we don’t have a front two of Gyan and Benbtner I will give up, I will also give up if Gyan does not show and stays on the pitch/

So, Bruce in just. Quinn where were you yesterday. No more excuses, big few months for Sunderland, massive few months for Bruce.

I'm pleased that St Niall did'nt let us get taken to the cleaners, with Crouch that would have been the case, he signed for Stoke, how much did they pay spurs, how much in wages are they going to pay & can they afford it, they've made some good signings & I wish them well, but what happens if things don't quite work out?

Good Morning Syd. It WAS a bit frustrating last night, onto the important bit.

We have another striker for the season who has experience in the PL, we left it late but he's here. Agree that I'd rather have him than Crouch, and would have preferred another, but hey ho??

So we know our squad, and over the last few years I've seen a lot worse.

    We're covered on keepers.
The lack of a specialist LB is the only question mark over the defence.
Midfield is the same, again missing a specialist LW.
Up front we are light - numbers wise.

3 key things for me, first KR must NOT play at LB again. Second, first choice has to be Larsson on the right and Sess on the left, and finally I would like the hierarchy at SAFC to attend as many communications courses as necessary so they do not come out with statements that raise our expectations - and then let us down.

I AM SUNDERLAND THROUGH AND THROUGH.

Each and every time SAFC play I will support them 100%. I might have a moan from time to time, might disagree with others, but at the end of the day the red and white is forever in my heart.

I see Bendtner as giving us something that has been missing for us of late, and I have a good feeling that his goal scoring exploits will be better for us than what many on here seem to think...

I think this lad fits the bill up front, hes young, keen and is well bedded in in this league, Bruce has had him before and if he can gel with Gyan I think this is good business. Bring on Chelski and see where we go.

Good morning, lads, and excellent article Syd.

Despite having commented in the past that i think Bendtner is useless, i'm actually now somewhat pleased he's here. I think his ego will benefit him up here. Tbf, he has some skill for a big lad, and Gyan needs to play with skillful players.

I was wishing and praying for another talented winger, be he a right one or a left one. Mainly because i'm not convinced Larsson will give us what we need from a winger. I think Larsson is a class player, he's just not really a winger. We're simply not using the whole field, not even close. We're not stretching teams in the slightest. I think this will become obvious pretty quickly and could cost us dearly.

Anyhow, we've got what we've got now. It could be worse.

    Chelsea:

    ---------------------Bendtner---------------------
    -------------------Gyan---------------------------
    Sess-----Catts---------Larsson------Richardson
    Bards-----Brown-----Bramble?-----O'Shea

I think the battle of the egos between Bendtner and Gyan could be the key with both woring hard to be the number one. Only downside could be they dont pass to each other.

I may be looking through rose tinted glasses, but I think this team looks very strong.
I would drop Richardson for Gardner and play Larrson on the right.

Chelsea have been strong for 6 or 7 seasons and in that time they have had Robben, Duff, Malouda and Kalou to name a few all who have come as wingers. Also theyve had the likes of Cole, Bosingwa, Zhirkov playing at full back all who love to go forward who also offer great width.

I take the point that they aint had Robben or Duff for a few years now and theyve moved Malouda to CM and Kalou to CF last season and look what happened to them. Man utd have proved that with good pace and trickery down the flanks you will do well as their Centre Midfield has been average for 3 or 4 seasons now (By their standard) and theyve still won leagues and made Champions League finals.

I think the EPL more than any other league is vital to have good wingers if you want to be succesful as teams generally pack their midfields now and make it very difficult to play through the middle.
