QPR chairman Fernandes shrugs off ‘abuse’ after draw with Leeds

    01/03/2014
    By West London Sport
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes urged fans to stay positive after another disappointing result.

The 1-1 draw at home to Leeds ended Rangers’ recent losing run but meant they again lost ground in the race for automatic promotion.

Responding to criticism after the game, Fernandes tweeted: “Abuse will happen. Someone has to take the frustration that people are feeling. But it’s much better to focus on positive. Long way to go.”

    Fernandes has faced some criticism.

He added: “We still well in there. So keep the faith. Stay positive.”

Rangers are clearly missing injured top scorer Charlie Austin, who wrote: “Come on now qpr fans we need you to get behind us and give us a big push from now till the end of the season #longwaytogo #lotsofpointstoget.”

Prior to the match, Fernandes dismissed speculation that manager Harry Redknapp was close to being sacked following three consecutive defeats.

“Seen some fairly stupid press reports. There is no way Harry is going to be sacked. The only person who should be sacked is Me,” Fernandes tweeted.

“We all stick together and push for automatic promotion 45 points up for play.Harry has got us into great position. We unlucky with injuries.”

All to quick to sack the only good Manager we had had in many years, he was then way too slow to fire the mistake he brought in, and now, if he wants us in the PL next season and has the the cash to gamble a change, he's already been too slow to sack Arry his 3rd big mistake. Maybe he is funding us, but his choice/timing of Managerial Appointments has been a Disaster.

Flyer reckons he tried to sack him last summer, but was put off by the cost which I guess would have been £6m then, probably £4 m now, £3m in the summer to pay off the remainder of his contract.

Anybody abusing Fernandes is a moron. All criticism should be directed at the supposed football experts paid handsomely to manage the club and/or team.

Point is that outlay is peanuts compared to what a return to the PL will return. Either we are strapped for cash / there is an unwillingness by our owners to invest more, or yet again TF is postponing a decision he will have to take. IMO he will do better to make that decision today, not tomorrow.

Yes. The last time this happened, there was a thread when we suggesting contacting TF to let him know we supported him. I, and others I'm sure, wrote to him snail mail to let him know. No reply but I did not need or expect one.
