QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has said that he hopes Christopher Samba will stay at the club, despite thier relegation from the Premier League.

Saturday's 0-0 draw with Reading means that both clubs will be playing Championship football next season, yet Fernandes has remained upbeat about the future of the Hoops.

"Chris would be a tower in the Championship and it would be fantastic to build a team around him," Fernandes told Sky Sports News.

"We're under no pressure now to just keep players so if Chris wants to stay with us, if he believes in what the club can do, then I'd love him to be one of the pivotal points of the Championship side.

"But if he doesn't feel that this is right for him then I don't want to force him to stay. We want players who are excited by walking down that tunnel and going to play for us."

Samba arrived at Loftus Road in January for a fee reported to be in the region of £12.5m."
    """

I think he's past it - hope we sell him.

Sat next to a Southampton fan in a work meeting yesterday. He reckoned Samba was immense down there, Lambert couldn't get. Look in, the difference between the teams.

Let's not write him off too quickly. What he needs is a decent long term CB partner to develop an understanding with. Not Clint, hopefully Ned.

I agree with Tony 100%. I reckon a fully fit Samba would thrive in the Championship, if he's heart is in it. Any goalie in that league would love to have him in front of him, and I can see him chipping in with a few goals from set pieces at the other end too. He could well have a storming season IMHO.

Have to keep this player FFS ... growing in a winning team the boy can be immense ... If anyone thinks we won't be winning games again next season ... think again we will and our team , our crowd will grow and all doubters will change their minds again. I can see QPR winning a lot of games next year as long as they keep this squad ... Samba is key.

Take a moment to feel what this team will do fired up ... This has to now be seen as our learning period.

    Too many signings too soon

Totally agree, I think he can do a job for us but 100k a week in the championship Hmmm.

Lets wait and see who goes first.

I'd add if we keep the High wage players we will definitely have to bounce straight back up else we really would be in some difficulties with the Bank Manager.

I can only think the view is different from the director's box. From the middle of the Ellerslie Samba has looked pants.

the other thing he (TF) mentioned is that we'll be alright even if we keep all players for a season, but if we can't get back up next spring we'd just have to cut costs and it wouldn't be the end of the world. was really comfortable and reassuring, great interwiev (if you can call it that).
