I don’t give them the opportunity Ozzy. I just ignore them completely. If they think that I’ve nicked something then they can call the cops and I’ll happily wait until they get there......oooh, hang on a sec!
Good call. They all have signs that it's a condition of entry that they can check your bags but if i recall correctly they have no legal right to do so

Agree Vince and slightly off tack here but a Patterdake Mountain Rescue volunteer received life changing injuries at the weekend in a call out to help two campers who decided to travel from Leicestershire and Liverpool to spend a night or two extreme camping out on the fells and got into difficulties.
Both were fined ( if they bother to pay it) but this guy is now facing an uncertain future because these two dick heads decided the rules don't apply to them, it makes my blood boil.

Hope the guilt lays heavily on them for the rest of their lives. My mental pain would be excruciating if I'd been responsible.

Frustrating isn’t it?
Over here we have staff on the doors at some shops looking in customers bags as they leave. I just ignore them and keep on walking. Yet some actually queue up to show the staff their bags and receipts.
My argument is that you shouldn’t have to prove your honesty to anyone, least of all the little hitlers they put on the doors. I want to voice my opinion when I see it happening but Mrs EJK has a proper go at me if I do. Hence I don’t do it.....that often.
My missus and I have the same argument every time we go into the SOL. Stewards on the turnstiles searching bags, I have never been stopped but she goes up to them and shows them her open bag.

I was through onto the concourse one time and one of them made her throw an unopened bottle of water into the bin, I couldn't get back out to challenge him, so I hunted out a supervisor and asked him if I was allowed bottles of water, he said yes so, to my wife's embarrassment, I demanded that he sorts his staff out and provides her with another bottle of water. The steward standing outside went and took the bottle out of the bin and tried to give it to her but I wouldn't let her accept it, eventually the supervisor had to buy a bottle on the concourse for her.

Well I wasn’t going to post this, but I’ll use this thread to say my piece.
Me and the wife went to Tesco’s last week, and I was refused entry because the security guard said 'one person per household' ok I said, and we both turned around and headed home.
Ohhhhh to our surprise, a group of about 7/8 people walked straight past us and the security guard into the shop. These were not 7/8 individual shoppers, they were some families and couples.
My point is why pick an easy target, two nearly 70 year olds who need support, then openly let others into the shop ?
It beggers belief, this panademic, people like us adhering to the rules, not going out except for essential walk and shop.
Nevertheless, celebrities like Robbie Williams and others seem to just go on as normal, having holidays and basically having a just could not care less attitude.
People travelling in planes trains and automobiles, with no concern about others.
I agree that the store should treat everyone the same but the advice from the start of the lockdown was to shop alone if possible. Very few stores implemented this advice but now they seem to be doing so. My son worked for the said store over the Christmas holidays and he said that staff were told to avoid confronting customers who did not follow rules, he also said that the majority of staff were not wearing masks in the warehouse and staff room areas when out of sight of customers.
I've always done our weekly shop on my own and don't see the problem - just make a list beforehand. It really does wind me up when I see whole families out shopping as if nothing has changed. Surely one of the parents could have stayed at home with the kids for an hour. <doh>

Rant over <laugh>

You would think that most people would be glad of the rule. Men given a get out from grocery shopping , or any man volunteering to do it could score browny points as the woman enjoys a “ feet up”. Obs, some do need support of another person, but sad that so many think food shopping is a social or day out. On a better note , anyone think supermarkets are a bit quieter ( during week at least ) maybe because folk are being more organised and doing one big shop a week , rather than multiple small visits?
Most of the my wife goes at 7 am on her own

I can understand the rule. Its not just for covid distancing safety its for quickness as well. You get 8 individual shoppers queuing outside the doors in the cold because a family of 8 including unruly kids are buzzing around doing a massive monthly shop. Its infuriating. However at times its a rule thats difficult to police. That family of 8 might include a single parent who is not able to find child care. Why risk a grandparents covid exposure by dropping 7 kids off to take care of them for an hour whilst the parent shops? A shopper might need a partner with them for mental or physical support. Its not just shoppers its the workers as well. There are at least 6 regular workers in my local Tesco who do not wear masks. They claim anxiety. Now I've no doubt that some of them are genuine. But I also suspect that some of them just dont want to wear one. I know that one of them has confessed that he doesnt wear one due to vanity but has used his supposed anxiety as an excuse. Anyway there are a long line of regulations that are virtually impossible to police fairly. The OP might have been unlucky. The security guard might have a very relaxed approach but has a quota regarding the number of people he has to stop. His boss might have been watching him at that very instant. He's possibly been told to allow big families of 8 through cos they will be spending huge amounts of cash. But stop 'two nearly 70 year olds' because they possibly wont be. If the security guard was a jobsworth, and had a 100% success rate in stopping folk, Tesco would get rid of him due to a reduction in their profits.
Yeah I understand what you say

That’s a bit off by the steward mind trying to give your missus the one they’d chucked in the bin. Although when it comes to public safety I’ll happily show them what I’ve got in my bag if they ask but like you I won’t volunteer it up. My issue is with the shops who do it whose sole purpose is to maximise profits.

my local shop last week a women her son (about 14) and daughter none wearing masks casually walked in bought something went up to the counter, it said no mask no service in big letters, but they got served to my anger, i wanted to mouth off but thought this is not my job, but i would not have served them, got to obey the rules or we will never get rid of covid. and about Morrison's have you tried the salmon/cheese fishcakes yum yum !

Think your Mrs and mine would definitely get on!! Sounds like we get in the same pickles with our wives!!! Do you slow right down when some drives right up your arse too - then put your foot down when they try to overtake? (and get your arse kicked for it!!)

When the supervisor tried to apologise to us, he excused the behaviour by saying that he was just a part timer Mag, although I've seen him on duty every game since then <laugh>
I understand that public safety is paramount EJK, but we go to every home game as season card holders and I have never been searched even when I carry her backpack for her, she get's searched every game, I keep telling her she has a guilty look about her and how an innocent bloke like me ever ended up with a recidivist like her is beyond me <laugh>

But really why did he let them others in
After forcing me to stay out
Like you said. You and the Mrs are an easy target because of your age. It’s totally wrong and when I was brought up you had total respect for your elders, but today, well it’s just not the same anymore.

I wasn’t having a pop about it Monty mate. I just used your situation to emphasise my frustration! You’d think that the job I do I’d be all for it, but I’m not. I’m all for civil liberties.

I didn't think for one moment you were EJK. I have taught search techniques, wrote searching strategies, supervised search teams and carried out all types of searching myself so I understand the need for it to be effective.
When I collared the supervising steward, I asked him why his staff were only searching easy targets, he stood and watched for a minute and then agreed with me that they appeared to be.
The next home game I purposely went round to watch the searching of Coventry supporters going into the North Stand upper and stewards were just using hand held metal detectors with no rub down or bag searches. That was the game they were lobbing stuff into the North Stand lower bowl including a glass bottle of urine.
