The Chelsea skipper is alleged to have made racist comments towards Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand in a league match on 23 October 2011. A not guilty plea was entered on Mr Terry's behalf at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. He will now stand trial on 9 July, nine days after Euro 2012. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Mr Terry, 31, is accused of a racially-aggravated public order offence. 'Never abused' Following Wednesday's hearing, the footballer's legal team said in a statement: "Mr Terry looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name. "Mr Terry denies making any racist statement and will establish in court that he is not guilty of any such offence. "Mr Terry has never racially abused another player in his entire career.'' Police questioned Mr Terry under caution in November and a file on the matter was sent to the CPS at the beginning of December. The decision to charge Mr Terry was taken after police received a complaint from a member of the public after the Premier League match at Loftus Road. The maximum sentence for the offence is a fine of £2,500. As a summary offence under the Crime and Disorder Act, it will be fully heard in a magistrates' court.
Erm, Funny this NOT really! Ma Lady she would kill me for putting this on here, has been asked to serve "Jury Duty" in Hanley I think? It's for 2 weeks in June Could be longer of course and IF she's selected to "sit" when the "trial starts" NOT HER'S of coures lol. We go away mid june to end of the month. She is STILL TRYING to be asked to "Sit" either BEFORE of AFTER our holiday which we BOOKED last JULY? Someone PLEASE TELL me how this works. Because, there a TWO reasons you can give as an "Excuse for not being able to attend" It say's that on the form she's had. Basically it's like a " You can NOT refuse without an EXCUSE. The TWO listed reason are. She is PREGNANT, of which there is NOT a CHANCE IN HELL, I now SHOOT blanks but would not put that as an excuse, I might be held for comtmpt if I did. And or YOU are TERMIALLY ILL. Of course I think she will be still breating in JUNE although she's had the flu a BAD dose it was too. But, will recover FULLY and is not about to LEAVE me just yet God forbid. So, she put this. Can I PLEASE be "TOLD to attend for JURY SERVICE. Sooner or later that ANY day IN JUNE 2012. We've NOT heard back as yet. Any advice would be welcome guys. I've NEVER had to do it MYSELF. OR maybe I get JOHN TERRY'S Solicitor to ASK for HER. MY thoughts on HIM. LEAVE him at HOME and Sort the CASE OUT. But, what do I know, just retired not OVER JURY AGE nor is my Good Lady she's 52. I won't tell YOU what she said to do with JOHN TERRY when she heard it on Sky News last night. She would be hung, drawn and quarted for saying it how it should be. Potts, As far as I'm aware, ie Google (!), you can delay jury duty for a pre-booked holiday, but not cancel the duty. Your good lady will have to do it after you come back.

just seen on bbc board that manu fan was arrested for racist abuse at their game with stoke at OT on tues . He's facing court next week . A bit odd that terry can wait till july . Has he got better lawyers ??? Certainly wouldv'e stopped all this carp we're facing with Crapello . On a serious note where is the line drawn.......we've always taken the p out of any fault or weakness in opposing players look at the abuse given to Lescott and Bale or Tuncay when he played for Boro. Huge huge minefield , Rio ferdinand got loads of booing at chelski yesterday . Everybody knows it's cus of his comments about his brother and terry . Will taking the p out of opponents (not racial ) become criminal ?
I've said this a few times. Technically, it'd be racist to say anything to Bale about being Welsh, or to Gerrard for being from Liverpool. And is it an offence to take the piss out of appearance? You can't go about telling someone that they're a "black bastard", but I doubt the police would be interested if a player reported someone for calling them something like "A big nose ginger bastard" for example. Yet both are things that someone could be equally sensitive about.
