About time, grovelling apology from the racist scumbag just now on the radio. Chelsea should take the captaincy off the moron but being the scum they are they won't. Anton vindicated
This ends the whole sorry saga for me. It's now up to Chelsea whether they impose any further sanction, which I really don't care about. We have an admission by Terry that he used the words, that he used them wrongly, and that he should not have done so under any circumstance and provocation. If only he had done this a year ago, none of the following drama would have been necessary. Right - let's move on.
From Sky Sports """" Chelsea captain John Terry issues apology and decides not to appeal four-game ban Last Updated: October 18, 2012 12:15pm John Terry: Chelsea captain has issued apology and decided not to appeal against ban Chelsea captain John Terry has issued an apology and decided not to appeal his four-game ban and £220,000 fine for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. Terry had until 6pm on Thursday to contest the punishment handed out by an independent FA regulatory commission. But in a statement issued by his representatives Elite Management, Terry revealed he is unhappy with the FA judgment but has decided to serve his suspension. "After careful consideration, I have decided not to appeal against the FA judgment," he said. "I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for the language I used in the game against Queens Park Rangers last October." John Terry Quotes of the week "I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for the language I used in the game against Queens Park Rangers last October. "Although I'm disappointed with the FA judgment, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or indeed in any walk of life. "As I stated in the criminal case, with the benefit of hindsight my language was clearly not an appropriate reaction to the situation for someone in my position. "My response was below the level expected by Chelsea Football Club, and by me, and it will not happen again. "Looking forward, I will continue to do my part in assisting the club to remove all types of discriminatory behaviour from football. "I am extremely grateful for the consistent support of Chelsea FC, the fans and my family." Terry will miss Saturday's Premier League game with Tottenham as well as the clash with Manchester United on 28th October and the Capital One Cup tie with Sir Alex Ferguson's side three days later. Chelsea's trip to Swansea on 3rd November will be the final game he misses. Found guilty Terry was found guilty by the independent FA commission of using highly offensive racist language towards Ferdinand during the Premier League match between Chelsea and QPR on 23rd October last year. He has always maintained that he was merely repeating an accusation levelled at him by Ferdinand, but the commission found that his words were used as an insult. "Although I'm disappointed with the FA judgment, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or indeed in any walk of life." John Terry Quotes of the week The commission described Terry's version of events at Loftus Road as "improbable, implausible and contrived" in their written reasons for issuing the ban. The three-man panel also questioned why Terry's team-mate Ashley Cole had changed his statement to give more support to Terry's story, sparking a furious response from the Chelsea and England defender who described the FA as a "bunch of t***s" in a tweet sent on 5th October 5. Cole has since issued a full apology for that and has admitted a misconduct charge. The commission said in its written reasons: "The commission is quite satisfied, on the balance of probabilities, that there is no credible basis for Mr Terry's defence that his use of the words... directed at Mr Ferdinand by way of forceful rejection and/or inquiry. "Instead, we are quite satisfied, and find on the balance of probabilities, that the offending words were said by way of insult. "Accordingly, the commission finds that there is 'clear and convincing' evidence." The commission said that character references from a number of people, including black players, made it clear that Terry was not racially prejudiced. "It is accepted by everyone involved in the criminal and disciplinary proceedings that Mr Terry is not a racist," added the commission. Terry verdit explained . Terry had been cleared in Westminster Magistrates Court in July of a racially-aggravated public order offence, partly helped by the testimony of Cole. However, the commission found that there were discrepancies in Cole's initial statement to FA interviewers of what he heard Ferdinand say to Terry compared to later statements. Cole did not mention the word 'black' in the initial interview with the FA on 28th October. On 3rd November 3, Chelsea club secretary David Barnard asked the FA for the specific word 'black' to be inserted into Cole's witness statement, suggesting that Cole may have heard Ferdinand use the term. The commission saw an email exchange between the FA and Barnard and said that should be regarded as "cogent new evidence". """""
The scum have added a further token punishment but wont say what it is. In reality they probably fined him a further £5 but really let him off. They support racism.
Old news I know, but many of us will remember that Stamford Bridge was one of the biggest breeding grounds for the National Front in the 70s and early 80s. Racism was tolerated almost to the level of encouragement in those days and fascist literature was openly sold inside the ground. Times change of course but somewhere at the heart of Chelsea FC the stain still lies. We must always be on our guard against this kind of thing (particularly where the scum are involved )
Words like context mean that he's merely covering himself. Political statement rather than genuine apology but more than I thought we'd see.
And 90's 00's! We all knew what he said and that he was guilty. Only reason he won in the court was because you need 100% proof and sadly it was not there, however the FA verdict was just (shame about punishment). Now he has proved to the world that he was guilty and tried to cover it up and it also proves what an unsavoury character Ashley Cole is. Anyone who sticks up for that 'donut' or supports him should be ashamed of themselves. John Terry is everything that is wrong with football on and off the field.
Apologises to everyone for the use of his language, but where is the apology to Anton?, he's the innocent party here!
He is quoted as saying "I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for the language I used in the game against Queens Park Rangers last October." which must include Anton. A warm personal apology it is clearly not. But the sentance I put in bold is as Matt said is covering himself, so not to compromise the defense he gave in court, which I understand was how he got off.
I don't think Anton is really an innocent party, is he? Let's not forget that most of what Anton was saying was disgraceful, he just didn't say "white". This (fake and manufactured) apology is to the "black community" rather than to Anton, as I think Terry regrets saying black rather than any of the other words. That said, Terry deserves his ban and should go away and shut up. He's an utter idiot rather than a racist, just like Rio. And both of them at whiny and loathsome people.
now its all over, anton can get his mind back on football, his form on all accounts has been affected by this, cfc will always have a racist element with some of there fans, its a magnet for morons and dick heads, some of there 45+ year olds fans still live in the 80s, shame because i have met one or two decent cfc fans
