Spot on. I don't think Murray could be playing any better tbh. It's just that Federer has that Champions' mentality!!
Very harsh to question Murray's mentality. IMO he has proved today that he can handle the mental pressure, simply by walking onto the pitch today with all the weight on his shoulders. And then winning the first set. He lost the second set even with 14 winners and only 3 or 4 unforced errors. Very rarely happens in this sport.
Another think i notice about the champions mentality is Federer and Serena just hit whatever ball they are given. Murray has to check about 4 balls each time in case one has too much fluff on it, you are not a winner if you believe that can stop you from making a good serve.
Apple and pears Flyer. You're comparing a good tennis player (Murray) with the finest sportsman in history, regardless of sport. Only reason Murray was left with a chance today was simply because this is not the Federer of three-four years ago. But still the mighty Swiss oozes class, breathtaking to watch.
If Federer wins today and regains the number one spot in the ATP rankings it will mark as the biggest achievement of his career imho.
Its just a pet hate of mine, it probably adds 20 mins onto every game for no reason. Id make sure you had to serve the ball you were given if I was in charge. Then again, Id eject anyone doing the slow clap every time theres a review.
Agree. Murray know he's up against it and uses all the time he can to break the rythm of the game, didn't do it in the early part today
When Fed is on top he's as mean as h*ll! Think we're in for a treat in the final minutes of this match
Over and out, you can't deny the best man won, he just had too many shots in his locker. Murray was not disgraced and if he'd taken his chances in the second set who knows, but Champions take their chances, that's the difference...
Andy Murray played a brilliant match today, done you Brits proud. Check his stats, would have beaten most players today, Only Roger Federer was a bridge to far for him. He might get his revenge in the Olympics, now that would be something!
Got me in one Norway! "man cries after losing tennis match to greatest ever but still trousers £0.5m shocker". Wife's in floods mind.
Shows what it means to him but he's unfortunate to be playing in the same era as Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. It just means if one or even two of them slip up there's always one left to get him. Maybe he'll peak at the USA Open, he's made that final before...
