    I don't get all this technology around gloves these days, when I look back to when I was a lad, it don't fill me with confidence that it's made them any better a keeper.

    We seem to have lost the ability to actually catch the ball, although I believe some of that is to do with coaching tactics in todays game.

    For example two keepers that didn't always wear gloves, Gordon Banks and Ray Clemence.

    Like you say @WINDYROG it's all about confidence, as shown in this video, when the goalkeeper Ricardo knocked England out of EURO2004, just by taking his gloves off...
