I briefly touched on this in the transfer thread, I said I'd have kept Hollands and Feely, I still think Hollands could have done a job in this division, especially if Diego goes.

Feely I wanted to see him play but clearly not been making the improvements that were needed, or not making them quick enough

What a disappointment Jordan Cook turned out to be. I know he cost nothing, but is there even a footballer in there?

Three seasons back Azeez seemed the likeliest to progress of all our youngsters. England u19 caps, star of our FA Youth Cup run, etc.

Just proves it is folly to depend too much on an academy, No-one, and I mean no-one in the world, can accurately forecast who is going to make it and who not. We read all the stories about kids being spotted at the age of 8 and being brought through to stardom by the like of Barcelona and Ajax, but we never read about the hundreds they coach who don't make it.

I am a great enthusiast for our academy and development squad, but you cannot put all your eggs in one basket.

    Why didn't Azeez make it?

    Certainly not.

Sad about Hollands. One of my favourite players in our promotion year and one who I thought could easily adapt to the Championship. But he had every chance at Gillingham and failed to excel so I think he is past his best. Hope he has a good career at Portsmouth.

Pritchard will join Powell if in Div One.

Gower was the most pointless signing ever.

Evina has ability and is still very young. Could become a Championship player if he finds the right club and sorts his head out. He was unlucky to be stuck behind Wiggins, but he reacted in the wrong way. Now we have Fox, Holmes-Dennis and Edwards all in the queue to replace Wiggins so Evina has no future here.

None of these to be honest, not if we want to progress and become a stable championship club.

Fans seem to call for the return of players like Green when they are not playing in a struggling team, hailing him as a potential saviour only to be reminded after 20 minutes of his reprive why he was out of the team in the first place and causing everyone to revert to slating him.

Hollands is another who I have read a lot of people calling for him to return to the first team. He is a decent solid centre mid but is another who's natural level is only ever going to be as high as League 1 along with Green and BWP (another of was correctly released IMO)

    No idea.

I call it the Osei Sankofa scenario. England caps at every age level. Debut at Old Trafford at the age of 18. Finished at top level by 23 with no significant injuries to explain it. No attitude problems. In his case maybe weight problems? He soon became a bit stocky. Cannot say that about Azeez.

Maybe Azeez will do a "Charlie Macdonald" and rebuild a solid career from the lower tiers?

I was excited when we signed Gower and was really impressed with the way he kept the ball in his loan spell at the end of last season, he looked a bit short of match sharpness but I thought there was a good championship footballer in there. Sadly he didnt start the season well and there has been no way back.

What does "released" mean in this context? Is it because their contracts don't expire until 31st May, and this gives them a few days start in finding another club? I presume from June 1st they wouldn't need to be "released"?

Agree - he made everything tick against Bristol in the last game and I really thought with a pre season he would be a calming influence. However, that seemed to be one pre-season too far and the games just passed him by.

Yep, Gower's legs went very quickly & there wasn't much left after they did.

Make that 11 players gone today. Ben Hamer has just signed for Leicester Reserves.

It means they have been released from their oubliettes of misery and doom.

All depends who comes in... Anything like the January activity, and I'd be tempted keep them all...

I await with baited breath for our fantastic Belguique new signings... Optimistically what what else can we expect..?

We could create our own version of 'Boycott Bingo' based on guessing the nationalities of RD's next tranche of Euro trash. You get a point for the country of origin, plus an extra point if you guess the obscure league they also game from.

Start poring over maps of Albania, Outer *****lia & Lithuania.

I might have given Cort a contract to mentor Gomez, if Joe signs up that is.

the network is like a vegetarian going shopping in a butchers. it may aswell not exist if the only clubs we "buy" from are overrated liege, potatas brava fc or haagan daas. they dont have players better than we do - even if they're deemed higher in the food chain.
