I would sign Cranie. We need another defender, especially one that can act as a utility player

I actually think the way NW has treated him is wrong. You shouldn't be allowed to have a player on trial for this length of time, especially if you are not talking about contract figures. It screws the player over

I would have said sign him before this, but is that the way to act when you are trying to impress a new employer? Remember Crainie approached NW - he has used our facilities and coaching staff to get himself match fit, he has used Leeds Utd to put himself in the shop window and if he had shown anything outstanding I am sure he would have been offered a contract by now. We have played piss poor opposition in pre season, I don't blame NW wanting to see more of him and more of his character - Someone who refuses to play in case they get injured again isn't the type of player we need. Sounds like the player is saying you have seen enough of me, sign me now or I am off - I would say goodbye..

But we do need a CB. Preferably free so we still have funds for a winger!

And then what if he got injured and was then rendered unemployable? I think he's far from guaranteed a contract so made a perfectly sensible decision.

I think its a fine decision to make and if you were in his shoes I think you'd have to at least consider making the same decision. Warnock seems to understand why he has done this

Last two comments - No if I were trying to earn myself a contract and get match fit I would NOT do exactly the same, what is the point of joining a club on trial and not showing them what you are capable of, Cranie obviously feels he has done enough showing what talent he has against non league opposition - I hope NW tells him to bugger off. He could join another club tomorrow and get injured on the training ground, I see it as his way of forcing the issue and throwing a tantrum.

Ristac, he has been here for about 3 weeks. If warnock hasn't seen enough of him then he's too indecisive. Its called screwing a player over, if you have no intention of signing him then move him on and allow him to join another club. If you do have an intention of signing him and are struggling with wages, let him know and keep him in the loop and work from there. Even then the player has the right to decide he may try his luck with a club more likely to sign him. This has been way too long to have a player on trial with a club

Maybe he hasn't quite shown enough against far inferior competition and NW wanted to see what he could do against a L1 team - Remember we never approached him, he asked to train with us and use our facilities.

I've never seen that he approached us. I thought Gray was the only one. Either way, if NW thinks he hasn't shown enough against inferior opposition then move him on. I'm sorry there is no reason to keep a player on trial for this long. Think of it from the player's point of view rather than a supporter of the club's point of view

I didn't say keep him though <ok> I said tell him to get on his bike... I agree, if he hasn't yet shown enough and he refuses to show any more tell to push it.

If we signed him "because we need another CB" and he turned out to be an AOB or Bruce we would all complain and shout how come he was on trial with us and why did NW not spot he wasn't capable. Another reason why after the first game I fail to understand why we do not play friendlies against better opposition - Can you really judge a professional footballers talent or lack of against non league opposition?

Well we could have judged his talent from the years of playing in the Championship like we did with our other players. If he got seriously done injured against Preston that would be it, done, he'd be unemployed for at least the next season. Clearly a contract from us is far from a certainty so he's choosing to do what's best for him, for some reason a sentiment Leeds United fans seem not to understand.
