Apparently they've offered him a permanent position and a place to spout his bile. Ridiculous. Thick as thieves, journos are. Another reason not to buy the Telegraph. Wonder if the apathetic public will care though? Probably not outside of the city.
My son wants to be a journalist, it's not a job I'd love him to do but at least he has a direction. I don't read newspapers anymore anyway and find it crazy that people are not more savvy to the **** they promote.
newspapers are dying rapidly. they are a day behind the transfer gossip and only offer tittie shots to the masses for a few pence. when a paper proported to be a serious analysis of current affairs employees a liar and unapologetic slanderer then its just as bad.
Ditto my youngest daughter. By the time she's finished her A levels, English degree and journalism qualification, newspapers probably won't exist. It'll all be on-line.
I'm with luv on that. Can't remeber the last time I actually sat down to read a newspaper. Have to admit to buying the IT 'cause herself likes the crossword.
I'm not sure if this is correct but I read somewhere that news via TV has to be unbiased and factual, whereas newspapers can show bias and publish 'lies' and pass them off as opinions. Is this the case? Newspapers have lost all meaning - they only publish stories about talentless celebrities and contain very little information on current affairs.
In a way. TV news is just as biased as newspaper reporting, but in theory it has to be fair. Tho' with the caveat that it can only be punished if someone with a direct interest in the issue complained it was being unfair. Basically they have to be reasonably unbiased if they are reporting on an individual person, but if it's a social issue or general opinion they can pretty much say what they like. Ultimately all media ventures are concerned about is audience, so if they think they can get more people interested by being biased then they will be. The Beeb used to be unbiased, but then decided it had a 'socialist mandate' i.e. a reason to be as biased as the rest of them. Even if the journos want to be unbiased then they are at the mercy of the editors, directors and owners who can tell them where to go, what to report on, who to interview etc.
Pretty much. I ****ed papers off a long time ago. All I need to do is watch Channel 4 news at 7 for half hour and I get all the important stuff. Talksport to and from work for sport and then anything that is major is word of mouth anyway!
A somewhat biased comment there. The Beeb has always had a political bias from day one - listen to the recordings during the General Strike!!. Perhaps your 'socialiat mandate' was merely an attempt to redress the balance?
Generally speaking, after the ****ing debacle the other night I've had it with this site, but before I leave in you peace to continue your felating of Sweats and NOF let me leave you this as a parting gift: Here are a couple of useful emails: [email protected], & [email protected], Mr Gallagher being the editor of course Taken from a post reviewing the Hillsborough progamme. I've e-mailed both (which they'll doubtless ignore) but enough people do.... well you never know. Good luck to you all. Take care now.
Letting Sweats return after the "ban or don't ban" thread I would imagine. Can't win for losing these days.
Rhc... your daughter is still pre a levels... That makes Bluff and Zingy sick bastards! When does she become legal?
Because of unbanning Sweats / banning thread. He also thinks we had something to do with NOFs site ban and return. This is despite me clearly saying that it had nothing to do with us (was actually a manc mod & was only ever for 48hrs) and that NOF remains banned from the Liverpool board!
Bit of nice antiquing there Kelvin Mackenzie's excuses that the PO-lice led him as tray He's on to a hiding for nothing if he goes walking about Liverpool, hope he forgets and goes there and gets dropped into the Mersey in a fooqin sack with some rocks in it.
