Great read, and the Norwich lot wonder why we are proud of our history. A top story about a local lad turned cult hero.

Well, its all quiet here before Sunday lunch...so just commenting on that superb article about Ted Phillips. What a player, what a combination him and Crawford. And I was a lucky b....ger who got to see them, standing on the proverbial wooden box for 2 shillings and 6p I think it was!

Trust we are all enjoying our gentle end of season run-in. Top 10...perhaps even 8 possible. But I would like Hyam to play just a few minutes for Christs sake. And then the challenging summer months to shake things up a bit. While I know Scotland did the decent thing, I am not convinced by him.

What dead wood would you like to see go?

    Good question southcoast.

Scotland is an option and he can put chances away. I don't think he's a regular starter but a great squad striker to have at this level.

Looking around the squad I think the deadwood is Ellington, Bowyer, Bullard, Leadbitter and that's really it.

What a shame we were so pitiful earlier in the season, it's a good lesson that even when things aren't going well every point could be valuable come May.

I always thought Keith Hill was a sensible, intelligent and sophisticated bloke, Hamps. A very good and entirely accurate comment by him.

As for deadwood we, have too much to get rid of in one go.

As far as I’m concerned, we have no senior non-deadwood keeper. Perhaps I’m being unfair on ALB, but we really should have a better number one.

Kennedy, Sonko, Delaney, Leadbitter, Ellington, Bullard (what’s going on with him?), Bowyer, Wright – would anyone object if their contracts were terminated tomorrow? Ignoring for the moment that would leave us with just Smiffy and Ainsley in central defence. Deadwood. Christ knows what their combined wages must be.

Then there’s Edwards, Martin, ALB, Peters – players of this ilk are vaguely adequate for purpose, some of the time anyway. This isn’t what we should be aiming for. We shouldn’t be happy with marking time with barely adequate makeweights but we’re forced to because of the sheer number of them we have.

The only encouragement is: 1; the players have that actually ARE good enough and CAN form part of a team that can challenge for promotion and possibly keep us up if we ever got there: Cressy, Hyam, Drury, Carson. 2; the youngsters who PJ assure us will be soon be challenging for the first team – Ainsley, Wight and Lawrence.
Plus there’s the guy we’ve just signed up from the youths, Callum Bennett who is, miracle that it is, an actual right back!!! Y’see … they DO exist.
