I'm a technophobe so if anyone can help point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful. Now I've no idea why, but for some reason I don't receive some of the email I'm sent, including email from this very site. For instance, I'm logged out on my lap top and can't remember my password, but when I request a new password and do that little jigsaw thingy, I'm told I've been sent a new one, but it doesn't arrive, either on my lap top or my phone. It's not just on this place though, as I don't receive e-mail from say HCST. It pisses me of, I don't how to post video on this here phern and that's why I've not been seen on the likes of the Friday music thread for the last couple of months. Any ideas lads?
I would, but if I do that the bastard sometimes won't come back on until it feels like it. The **** it.
Reset your password online, or get it sent to your mobile, rather than to email. You will have perhaps changed your hotmail password before but not updated it on your phone settings.
If you're using wifi make sure you shut the windows as sometimes data can get blown away if there's a bit of breeze blowing through.
Have you run out of total alloted space that Hotmail gives you? Is there a limit on size email your allowed to send or receive?
The likes of Hotmail should be pretty error-proof. So something silly like it being in your junk is all I can think of. Re the HCST ones we use Mailchimp which sometimes goes directly to junk for some Hotmail accounts about. Al can probably confirm whether I've got that right.
Thanks for all replies by the way I don't know. Maybe Mz Kempton's been watching too much porn and I have a virus.
PLT suggests Hotmail should be error proof. I find it about the most unreliable for synchronizing. Are you trying to have the emails automatically download to a local or alternative email program (synchronizing) or are you trying to access them directly at the Hotmail web mail site? It works fine for me as webmail but I have had problems when trying to get Hotmail emails to automatically synchronize and download to my phone or tablet. Nor can I get it to deliver reliably as an addon account to my Gmail account, which it should be able to. The emails are there if I log directly into their webmail site, it's just that other programs don't seem to work well with it. Plenty of alternatives out there, why not open another and see if that works.
I'm not saying Hotmail is brilliant by any means. I just meant that some email services such as those provided by ISPs can have complex setup problems which cause issues down the line, whereas Hotmail, Gmail etc are much more idiot-proof (not that Kempton is an idiot...)
Yes, Mailchimp seems to be very patchy with Hotmail. We are investigating a new bulk email provider to see if they are any better.
