When the announcement that the Bahrain GP and test had been cancelled, we heard that the final pre season test will be from the 8-11th March. Then some people were saying the test had been moved back a day and would be from 9-12th March. This is all a bit confusing, but apparently the Barcelona test will last 5 days. By my understanding, the rules state teams are allowed a maximum of 15 days of pre season testing, meaning that the teams can only take part in four days from the five available. Red Bull, McLaren, Renault, Force India, Sauber, Toro Rosso, Lotus and Virgin will all run on the first four days. Meanwhile Ferrari, Mercedes and Williams will run on the final four days. The only team yet to confirm is HRT - but since they skipped the Jerez test, I think they might be able to do five days.
I would have thought that the teams would have done 2 days, then take a day off, then do the other 2 days. Gives them time to do some analysis, possible repairs, and then plan what needs doing in between the testing. This of course may not be allowed.
I wonder what the weather is going to be like and if there is a gamble on the days they participate on
I suppose if you sign up for the first 4 days and 1 is a particulaly bad day then you could cancel and move it to the friday. Not so if you've signed up to the last 4 days of testing though.
