Obviously we all look at the likes of Posh, Barnsley and Sheff wed but with these teams picking up regular points as well as our upturn (home at least!) we are 'hunting' like a pack, a bit like in cycling, you know when the group work to get back to the leaders, can't remember what they call it, but sure you get my drift. We are now closing in on the likes of Wolves, Brum and Huddersfield with one or two others also getting nervous (Bolton) i don't think this 'closing' of the gap between bottom and lower mid table is a bad thing. We are entering a very dangerous faze however and must transfer some of the new found positivity at the gate onto the road and I think we need at least 3 points fron either bardiff or palarse, we will also need to get near maximum from remaining 7 games at the gate. this all said i feel a lot more positive than I did pre -SOD, whatever this season brings we should have more optimism and onwards and upwards U Reds!
Its a good thing yes, But would be better if they lose as there still dragging us in as well, Imagine when/if we get out of the bottom 3, We could be about 2 points off the bottom of the league. Although its encouraging to see only 9 points separate us and 14th!
If the teams around us wasn't winning the pack would be gaining more points. This way it makes teams above us panicky as they are being sucked into a relegation scrap. I said ages ago we play Barnsley and Weds at home match their points in other games we will be fine. But weds pulled out a bit since then so we should look at others who could be dragged into it Huddlesfield and Brum both have to play at our place. So could be a interesting few months.
how absolutely perverse the teams around us are winning , and it is a good thing....C R A P......beat Barnsley and Sheff Wed and we are safe ...rubbish it really is W E N E E D R E SU L T S around us to go our way, we do not want to fight 8 other teams as it is at the moment but just 3, the 3 that go down The latest odds still showed the likes of Wolves Birmingham and Bolton being less than 500/1 to go up,,,that only needs to get into play off's and win...Charlton were 1000/1 and the likes of BCFC Barnsley Peterboro name your own odds.. In an article I posted before, you need to understand the points available for the teams at the bottom playing each other there is only 3 points (often called 6 pointers) if they share them both teams have lost 2 points, if one team wins the other loses 3 points. and one team advances against the other. if they play a team higher up like yesterday BCFC 3 points from Florest, Sheff a point from Derby, Barnsley 3 pts from Midds Petbro 3pts against Leics Wolves a point against Leeds they have not effected the teams around them, but have one game less to achieve safety..OK Sheff and Wolves gained a point and the rest gained 2 on them...... 15 GAMES LEFT...SAFETY AT THE MOMENT IS 4 POINTS ABOVE US.........AND WE NEED 3 TEAMS TO LOSE 2 WHILST WE WIN 1 AND DRAW 1....that would be the good thing, thats why we need 52 points peloton is what you were after but not really apt as the points are fixed, and although one team needs to be chased down it is indiviidual pursuits that will be required.....bit like a marathon, everyone chases...
I am with the earlier postings. At least this way, yesterday as opposed to being annoyed that Posh and Barnsley won, I could take satisfaction out of Birmingham, Huddersfield etc. dropping points. We gained 2 or 3 points on teams yesterday which will matter at the end of the season. Otherwise you could consider our result yesterday a waste of time, which it was not. Barnsley and Peterborough are NOT the certains for relegation they were 10 games ago, and we have to have some other clubs to aim for as well. Well posted ADR
glen you are missing the point...yep its great that and that Peterbro and Barnsley are not nailed on to go down... WE really do need the teams around us to LOSE we already need the immediate 3-4 teams to lose 2 games and us W I N so you would prefer we had to 4 games and hope that teams above the current bottom 4-5 teams lose 4..come on that aint going to happen....WE ARE ALREADY IN A SITUATION WHERE WE NEED THE TEAMS AROUND US TO DROP POINTS....... BE REAL!
John you stick to your stats and let us possitive's take solace in the fact we are not seeing gloom and doom. Out of the teams that you keep bleating about not playing each other without looking forward to the others than next week Barnsley and Wolves play each other so 6 points there And teams we play in the mix now Barnsley Sheffeield Wednesday Huddlesfield Birmingham And to a outside bet Bolton Away we play Wolves All in my view 6 pointers and I can bet that the others will be playing each other in the next 15 games.
ROR its not stats and your added comments are almost straight from the opinion I put forward in another post regarding and Barnsley v Wolves is only 3 points or 1 point each that is not stats it is a fact, like SOD is doing a good job, that is a fact not a stat, (also it is a game not 2 games 3pts = 1game), (granted should we win the game on the same day we will be 3 points closer to 1 of them or 2 points closer to both of them) I have indicated this season bottom 8 playing bottom 8 has been short of fixtures... However the last few weeks have seen other teams find themselves in the bottom 8/9 which has now increased the number of games to potentially 10+, last season in the last 10 fixtures there were more. I am merely pointing out the ludiocrisy of stating we want the teams around us to keep on winning...WE DONT we want them to lose or draw not ......................................W I N............................. PS...TEAMS AROUND, sorry above US KEEP ON WINNING:- Sheff Wed 31 -9 36 Ipswich 31 -19 35 Wolves 31 -8 34 Barnsley 31 -11 34 Peterborough 31 -11 33 Bristol City 31 -14 31 so we win, so they win,( they keep on winning remember) great so we beat Sheff and only 2 points between us, same as WOLVES, beat Wolves, but hang on, Wolves also played Barnsley so who is on 37 or 35 points ? and from there on in the plot gets even more intriguing....it even stretch's my A level maths achievment but the answer is DOWN to simple arithmetic we want them to lose or draw... .A N D W E W I N
A fascinating season in a perverse sort of way and I can't remember one where results are so unpredictable virtually every week. IMO Birmingham are just about good enough not to be sucked into the bottom 3 come May, and I feel the same way about Bolton. I therefore reckon that the bottom 3 is between City, Peterborough, Barnsley, Sheff Wed and Huddersfield. A couple of outsiders who would appear to be safe right now are Charlton and Millwall who are both out of form currently.
