As a counterpoint to the hatred threads, which PL teams and players do you like the most?

    I'll kick off with:

    Team:

Whoever is the start of season favourite to go down. This year it'll be Watford. I like clubs to come up and stay up. That way the fans joy is not tainted by an immediate drop. I like underdogs.

    Player:

Sergio Aguero. Great player, astounding skill, never stops working, pretty fair, doesn't dive despite plenty of opportunity.

I wouldn't say love, but I'd like to see Bournemouth do well :)

And I always look out for a few of the smaller teams we met down in League One.

I can't really think of another PL team I particularly like, or many players tbh. As for worldwide there are a fair few but players wise:

    Ibrahimovic
    Ronaldinho
    Sergio Ramos
    Francesco Totti

There will be loads more but think those 4 are in a league of their own for my "love" category

Love is too strong a word. Slightly like is more appropriate.

I quite like Arsenal as I think they're basically a bigger version of ourselves in how they're run/style etc.

Players - Henry, Bergkamp, Aguero, Rickie and Toby's still alright in my book.

Glen Hoddle the player, not the man or manager.
    Michel Platini, again the player.
    Ruud Gullit the player
    Macro van Basten
    Chris Waddle

Emilio Butrageuno - I had his shirt once.

Manager: there's only one non-Saint for me - Sir Bobby Robson. I have a signed shirt on my office wall. I met him twice and he was a lovely man. RIP

Finally, Jack Pearce - Bognor Regis, player, Manager, Chairman, President.

Oh Gullit was just a wonderful player. I've never seen a game at The Dell that's been so completely dominated by one man (for the opposition. Matty did it sometimes for us).

Going back in time, in the playground I always pretended I was Zico.

Funnily enough, I nearly added Zico, then I thought I should add Socrates, which then made me think about the 78 and 82 world cups and maybe Rossi and then Aari Haan, Johnny Rep and...... All of that era!!

I've had a soft spot for Brentford for many years. In spite of their recent success, they remain the least fashionable club in London.

Players; no current ones, let's face it they're almost all, without exception, utter ****ers. But from the past, and non Saints related, let's have some defenders; Franco Baresi, Bobby Moore, Gaetano Scirea, Ronald Koeman. Franz Beckenbauer should be in there as well but he's German.

Edit; nearly forgot Tony Adams. All round top bloke and genuine English eccentric.

Go and watch the only club in kent sometimes, the gills (Charlton don't count).

Took an interest in palace, Norwich, Charlton and Northampton for a while when a relative played for them.

Player wise and I hate to say this were alot of the Liverpool players of the 80's, dalgleish especially. Current players couldn't be further from having any like.

George Best was the greatest player I've ever seen live and I loved him as a kid. All the 1966 World Cup England squad were heroes of mine, although the hero worship was placed on the back burner whenever their clubs played Saints, especially the West Ham trio. There are too many players to list here!

Had a big soft for Long for quite a while. But given that we've since signed him, I guess I can't say him.

In his place, Sigurdsson and Ki Sung-Yueng are two who I really, really rate and like to see do well.

But over my whole time of following football, my top three (non-Saints), in no particular order, are Shearer, Gerrard and Messi.

My all time top six includes Ronaldo, Zidane, Pirlo, Seedorf, Baggio and Lambert. It used to be a top five, but I expanded it to fit Rickie. From other teams across the continent, I follow Olympique Lyon and Ac Milan.

I've always quite liked Newcastle for some reason, they actually frustrate me now with their lack of ambition as they should really be top6/8 every year. Would like to see Bournemouth do well this year too.

probably my favourite non-saints player in the PL is David Silva...just makes it look so easy, absolutely brilliant.

Also a controversial one he's a bit of a prick but purely as a footballer I really do like Diego Costa. Eriksen of Spurs is great as well.

Apart from Southampton, I like Bournemouth, Celtic and Arsenal. In Europe Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla and I used to really like AC Milan but as they are rubbish as the moment, my liking for them has waned.

Players Thierry Henry, Pele, C Ronaldo, Alan Ball, Steve Williams,

For me it has to be AC Milan and rather oddly Arbroath, this goes back to a family holiday to Scotland in the mid eighties always look out for there results.

As for players pretty much every big player from the 78 World Cup to about 85 the golden era of football for me.
