Stockdale; Edwards, Ingimarsson, Delaney, Cresswell; Martin, Leadbitter, Bowyer, Kennedy; JAT-E-T; Chopra
Looks a decent side to me! Hopefully give Wolves a good game, be a good indication of what we can do.
2-1 loss, late goals from Hunt and a penalty from SEB did us in. But from the website report it sounds encouraging. Would love to hear views from somebody who attended though.
Bowyer showed his class in the first half and Martin had a good game by all accounts. My mate went and he said that before all the changes were made we looked pretty decent.
Not a bad game altho was played at friendly pace . thought martin was excellent and got my man of the match . 3 nil town probably would of been a fairer result . Don't know what anyone else thought but i thought JET was crap . Hope its not a sign of things to come . Every one else had a pretty decent game altho delaney looked a bit lost at times . very impressed with bowyer . coyb
I hope you weren't one of the idiots shouting 'what a waste of money' when JET was subbed Dundee?? Some fans really anger me, if they were sitting a bit closer my boot print would be on their face right now, give the guy a chance ffs, he's been at the club a week! I thought he was a bit quiet at times and his touch was a bit heavy but when he had the ball he looked like he could create things, which is what we need. I'm pretty sure I remember QPR fans slating Taraabt for being lazy and giving the ball away too much but give the guy playing time and he will improve and show moments of class which win games. Agree that Martin was impressive, especially for the goal. He was taking on full backs at every chance and more often that not got past them. reminds me of Ambrose at his best but a bit quicker. His first touch and control was impressive also. Cresswell was another that impressed and Leadbitter looked far better with Bowyer than he ever did with Norris. Speaking of whom I have to say it was so nice to watch Ipswich without him in the team. Chopra looked good, feels a bit strange to have a proper striker playing for Ipswich. He will score plenty if he stays fit. Stockdale made some brilliant saves and distributed the ball well. Pleased with his communication and also when he went round every player before the game trying to get them fired up. He might be on loan but he shows all the signs of being commited to Ipswich. Delaney and Ingi did well. Delaney played as well as he did next to McAuley and Ingi looks like a slight more mobile version of McAuley but maybe not as strong in the air. However, we need some decent cover. Don't let the scoreline discourage you. First half we were by far the better team. Second half was disjointed and their first goal was scrappy and the second a harsh pen. If we can get a good defensive mid and another young and hungry centre back as back up we will do very well this season. Edit: Forgot to mention how impressive Edwards was, defensively and going forward. Sometimes he was left a bit exposed and some people seemed to think that is him being defensivley weak!? Made a complete mug of some of the Wolves players on several occasions with his clever movement on the ball.
It was only our reserves tho, so why has all the articles gone mental about how well you played and saying things like you could go up
From what I'm hearing, Wolfsta, the team as a whole played well and worked as a unit. They can only play against what is in front of them, it doesn't demean the fact that they still performed well.
There were definitely some big names missing from the starting line up who came on in the second half...
