Simple thread really. What do you recon? Mine would be: Vorm Rangel Tate Caulker Taylor Butler Gower Allen Routladge Dobbie Lita Maybe swap butters and Rout? Didn't want to play Alfie, and it's also good for Vorm to get some continuity with his full backs. Any thoughts?
Rhys there is no way we will play that team IMO , there are to many first team players in that list, most of those will be rested I think
The question being 'has Buck got interest in this cup, or the league?' I would say that as it is so early in the season, then play the reserve squad. The rules have changed this year, so there will be no fines as long as they are in the squad 25. Moriera Richards, Tate, Donnelly, Lucas Macdonald, Orlandi, Gower, Butler Beattie, Moore Res: Cotterill, Thomas, Plus maybe 3 off the bench from Saturday (Lita, Allen, Dobbie) Would have played Bodde, but don't think he is fit enough yet.
I think you will be surprised. I sat in on the press conference after the match on Saturday and Rogers said he would make changes but still wants to play a team that will win. And not a huge amount would change. We shall see
Can't the Manager be fined for putting out a reserve side? Blackpool rings a bell. I think Graham should play. A goal would do his confidence some good. Rest of the team will be a smattering of first teamers but not many imo. Btw, Brendon always says he puts out a team he "thinks can win the game". That doesn't mean it'll be our first 11 jusdging by what he's done in the past.
We can't be fined for fielding a weakened side, this is a different competition. Blackpool did it in a Premier League game, as did Wolves. Anyway, Arsenal always field half their youth team.
That rule has now gone anyway. You can field anybody from your squad this season without getting fines
..............Moreira................ Rangel - Monk - Tate - Lucas ......... - Gower - Allen -......... Butler - ...Routledge.... - Orlandi ................Beattie................... This is the team I would play
would be a good time to experiment - graham and lita up front with moore and beattie on the bench, dobbie as AM, allen, routledge and orlandi in mid, would give rangel a rest (played well v wigan), moriera in goal, and in no particular position, tate, lucas, alfei, donnelly
I guess this where we play the role of the annoying Prem club and play second string. So for me it's going to be something like. Moreira Alfei - Monk - Tate - Lucas Gower - Orlandi Cotterill - Moore - Lita Beattie We have a tough game against Sunderland, we don't need any injuries and we want our front line fit and ready to go.
Just found out Lee Lucas is definitely in squad so maybe that sad something about team we are going to play. I still think we can get a result with young team, hopefully!
I think we should give Danny Graham a run out from the start certainly. Our forwards need some goals to get confidence, even if it is against lower league sides. I think Scott and Nathan can have a rest - we know what they will give us and they are not short of confidence, but certainly try to get a first team striker among the goals as soon as. Stereo
------------Moriera------------------ Tate, Caulkler, Williams, Richards (if fit) ----------Gower, Allen--------------- Butler -------Orlandi-----------Moore -----------Graham/Lita---------------
I wonder if he'll play Sean Mac at centre back, which he did, paired with Monk, against Bolton reserves. Granted he was playing against youngsters but he looked comfortable and his midfield experience and ability on the ball was useful. It might be too much of a gamble against the Shrews but it's strange how often a shift in position benefits a player in ways that were never envisaged. Lots of examples such as centre back Sutton becoming a lethal strike partner for Alan Shearer. Closer to home, Gower and Dobbs being given different roles and becoming more effective players. My team: Moreira... Tate, Monk, Mac, Lucas..... Gower, Butler, Moore, Beattie, Orlandi.... Lita. Subs: Cotterill, Alfei, Walsh, Graham, Allen. I know that this is experimental - SM at centre back and two strikers in midfield but there is a lot of quality there with Allen and Graham as experienced back up if needed. Tbh, that line-up should be hungry enough with sufficient quality to do a job. If it doesn't, it tells us a lot about our "strength in depth".
