So... Cardiff is a massive game. Id go as far as saying the biggest of the season so far. They get 2 and a half days more rest than us. We're travelling a long way twice in 5 days. They're at home twice on the trot. Question - would you literally play 11 ressies? I really think i would, with maybe a start and an hour for Sone.
We're definitely not going to play a development squad, so it will be roughly the team already discussed on the FA Cup thread... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/247190-FA-Cup-Draw/page7
I'm not sure I get your point, it was always going to be those players, whoever we were playing next.
Well not necessarily. Some people were suggesting we go all out to win the fooker outright now. But delete the thread if Mods want, I dont care. I was just bored. I think i was more raising a point about Cardiff having a benefit from being home twice on the trot whilst we've got 2 long journeys and we have 2 days fewer rest.
I think the team almost picks itself, it will be the second string other than the positions where we have no players left(ie Elmo at right back).
Is the draw for the quarters on Sunday? Think that will determine what side Bruce picks, if the winner of our tie is drawn away to one of the top 4, he'll prob swithc it around massively, as the smart money would be on us losing the next round if we got through, however if we're drawn at home to one of the lower ranked teams, say Shef U or Shef Weds, then all of a sudden the semis look a distinct possibilty and I think he'll go stronger.
Because the draw is on the Sunday? We'll know who we'd get in the QFs before we play? How is it not relevant? This is exactly what I mean.
We'll be flying to brighton, If the draw gives the winner a home tie to sheff wed Brighton will absolutely fancy it massively, if that is the draw, this game will be huge and infront of 27,000 Will be the game of the fa cup so far
The team will be decided before the draw has been made, I don't expect the next opponent will have any effect on it.
Was just about to post this. All the training and match preparation this week would be obsolete if Brucey decides to turn all the planning on its head and completely change the team.
Correct. I expect it to be as close to the Southend team as possible. No Rosie and McShane of course but time for Brady and Aluko to start for sure. Harper Bruce Faye Figueroa Koren(c) Boyd Quinn Brady Aluko (in a free role) Fryatt Sagbo
It will also continue to be our team regardless of who we play in the FA Cup.. Steve Bruce has already said many times that PL safety is the priority.
I just dont see it. What - so we get a presumed harder draw so we stick out the stiffs thinking it doesnt matter if we lose at Brighton cos we'll get beat in the next round anyway? And what if we do get a supposed easier draw - we say to the guys who got us this far in the cup and say "thanks for that lads, we're now putting the real players in cos we've got an easier match next round". Yeah that'll do wonders for team spirit. And again if we put out a first XI with a ****e draw in mind and then 6 of the team get injured f**king us right up for the rest of the league season. Yeah, brilliant. The draw should be of zero consequence whatsoever and I hope - nay expect - Bruce to view it exactly that way. Edit - I cant believe it, most seem to agree with me. This is the first time ever!
I'm not suggesting a complete change, only 2 or 3 players. Jesus wept. I wouldn't pick our strongest side ffs.
