Good news from the Gaffer in today's press conference - he has a full squad to select from. So, Matt Targett is okay! Like Leicester, Wolves are buying their way into the Premiership. Far play to them however, you nonetheless still have do it on the pitch and they've done exactly that and consistently well all season. Their 3-4-3 formation suits their players well, and allows them to balance strong attacking talent with defensively sound central midfielders. The main threat though, is from quick attacks down wide areas. And none has done that better than in form man, Ivan Cavaleiro. The Portugese winger has contributed 4 assists and 1 goal in his last 5 games. Whether it’s using his pace and trickery when hugging the touchline, or cutting inside the pitch to act as an advanced playmaker, Calveiro adds lot to their side. In a nutshell, he’s adaptable, reads the game excellently and provides attacking support in multiple ways. A real individual threat. Wolves will be missing another playmaker however. Reuben Neeves picked up his 10th card v Norwich on Wednesday and misses our game, as well as the one v Reading. For us we can expect Fredericks and Kalas to return to the side. Mitrovic ran out of puff on Wednesday but in the hour he played contributed well; not only up front but also defending at set pieces. So he'll start. The main quandary is again who starts on the right side of the front three. All four candidates have had mixed seasons and while his last few games have been lacklustre, I'm sticking with Piazon. Mainly because he and Fred team up well. ..........................Bettinelli............. ..Fredericks...Kalas...Ream...Targett.. ........................McDonald.... ............Cairney..........Johansen... .......Piazon........Mitrovic....Sessegnon....
The man in charge tonight is Peter Bankes. please log in to view this image We've only seen Bankes once before this season. The televised match (on a Friday night back in September) at Loftus Road, when we won 2-1 and 6 were booked; Fredericks Norwood, and Button for us. The Liverpudlian whistler certainly likes the spotlight - no other ref has managed more televised Championship matches this season - and last. Don't know whether there's any correlation but he also tops the red card charts with 8 so far this year. Along with 106 yellows in his 31 games. So very much on course with last season when 12 reds were flashed in 38 games.
Looking forward to watching the game on Sky tonight. Will be a tough game but with the form we're in at the moment we have to ge full of confidence going into it and believe we can beat any team in this league.
Magnifico !! Great game of football and we bested them all over the pitch. Our movement off the ball was terrific and won just about every 50/50. Another clean sheet and now 8 wins on the bounce at Fortress Cottage Magnifico !! Fredericks, Targett and McDonald had massive games. At last we have a proper hit man in Mitrovic. The poaching instincts of young Sessegnon are awesome. But .. the performance by Ream takes the biscuit - truly majestic. Proud to be Fulham. .
Ream was my man of the match. Great performance against top opposition and four consecutive home wins with clean sheets for the first time since 1999.
How good was that result? Awesome game and what a game from everyone especially Tim Ream. Finally doing what we all knew he was capable of. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
No bullshit - you're easily the best side we've (Cardiff) played this season - you made Wolves look a mid table outfit the same as you did to us - twice. If you hadn't had that indifferent start to the season you'd have pissed this league. As it is, you look the real threat for an auto spot with a dozen games to go, and I really think we need to beat the Wurzels lunchtime today to maintain a reasonable gap. I'm not going to be condescending and wish you all the best of luck because in all honesty I dont. The fact is you don't need wishes of good luck - you can do this on your own and there's nothing the clubs above you can do about it except win our own games.
I think it was the most complete team performance so far. Against a very strong Wolves attack our defence mastered them, lead by Ream, Bettinelli had very little to worry about, this gave midfield the opportunities to play and stretch them, with Mitrovic occupying their Central 2 defenders. Wasn't sure on the Ojo substitution as I thought it might disrupt the flow, thought Jokanovic might have put Christie on for Ayite, but the second goal was scored shortly after to put my mind at rest. Wolves are a strong team and I can't see them failing dramatically. What Fulham have to guard against is over confidence against certain teams, every team we play will be a bit weary of us, but some will have a nothing to lose attitude and will be dangerous.
