After last nights impressive win over Premier League Fulham Nigel will have a selection dilemma. Matty James and Chris Wood was very impressive last night while Paul Konchesky came off ill. Ritchie De Laet is still out injured. So here is what I would play Schmeichel Moore Morgan Wasilewski Konchesky Knockaert Drinkwater King Dyer Nugent Vardy Subs- Logan, Miquel, Hammond, James, Schlupp, Taylor-Fletcher, Wood
Miquel seemed to be getting praised on the radio, and said afterwards he would like to play more, then again so did Hammond. Pearson has a problem now, does he stick with the team that got 3 points on Saturday, or mix in some of the ones that just beat prem opposition.
I'm still not convinced by Miquel. Yes he scored but defensively he wasn't too convincing when the ball is on the floor
I literally have no idea who we'll play. We've just made 5 changes for a game against a PL side and won. We've been saying that the squad doesn't have depth, but does it? I mean, Hammond, James, Wood... these players are very very good but can't get near the side. 07 Hammond 08 James 15 Schlupp 22 Taylor-Fletcher 23 Miquel 25 Logan 39 Wood That was our bench against Bournemouth. They could get into most Championship sides. We might not have the squad of QPR, but we've got the fight and determination required. For the first time in a long time, I think we can do it.
I think its a terrific problem to have. Whatever team is picked we know we have a bench full of players who can change a game if required. Whether it be to get us a goal (or two) or hold onto a lead. I believe.
Hammond has been brilliant for us so far coming on helping us close games out. Thats exactly how we should have used Wellens last season
Will be very surprised if Miquel get the call ahead of Waso on Saturday. Do we know if Konch is likely to be fit to play? Id like to see Wood start up top with Vardy.
I would like to see Wood play, but the work rate of Vardy and Nugent is just too valuable. Wood's a goalscorer, but he's got little pace and doesn't create the same opportunities that Nuge and Vards provide. I think we can say that we are in a good position and it's a good problem to have, but keeping all 3 happy will be difficult.
Chris Wood understands why he isnt playing though. Both Nugent and Vardy are doing well, scoring goals and the teams winning Matty James hasnt been able to get back into the team since suspension for the same reason Jamie Vardy will miss a game soon as he picks up quite a few bookings meaning he cant be far off his 5th and a 1 match ban. If Chris Wood comes in and takes his chance Vardy could find himself on the outside looking in through no fault of his own other then collecting cards
Wood would be the only one that'd get close to our starting lineup and we ain't exactly a great team. Albeit its a much better bench than ours
... with all due respect Josh ... I suspect Jeff Schlupp and Matty James would get more than close ...
Did you see how long it took Wood to wind his legs up for that goal, it was ridiculous! Id keep Vard and Nuge. Would prefer Nuge and Wood if one had to be dropped, mainly because Nuge is more composed up front and gets into more dangerous positions.
Schmeichel Moore Wasilewski Morgan Konch (Schlupp if unfit) Hammond King Drinkwater Knockaert Dyer Vardy Subs: Logan, Miquel, Bakayoko (Schlupp if Konch plays), James, Nugent, Wood, GTF
the more i think about it the more we cant drop nugent and vardy - teamed up for our winner and really got a partnership going
I mean hes more composed than Vardy who has a tendency just to hit and hope, his goal against Huddersfield for example.
