Shocking performance yesterday so there will probably be a few changes. Ritchie De Laet is suspended after getting his 5th yellow card yesterday. Sean St. Ledger is still out injured but apart from that everyone is fit and avalible. Both Waghorn and Vardy have failed to impress in recent weeks so Futacs or Schlupp could come in. Nigel could go for a change of system after we failed to deal with Palace so Matty James came into the team n Here is what I would go with Schmeichel Moore Morgan Whitbread Konchesky Marshall Drinkwater King Knockaert Nugent Futacs Subs. Logan, James, Dyer, Gallagher, Schlupp, Waghorn, Vardy
I'm glad you posted this today and not yesterday, I might not have been so sensible - We have to be careful we don't chuck the baby out with the bathwater. Nigel is right when speaking to media about not getting too excited about one result whether its a win or a loss - Lets hope he practices what he speaks when selecting the team - The very team that has been as equally devastating to other teams as Palace were to us yesterday - Full credit to Palace, their players (probably spurred on by their manager leaving) put on a fantsastic display to win the game in the first 30 - It happens, lets get over it and move on (no my account hasn't been hacked)
Agreed De Laet can't play, Dyer was awful yesterday and Marshall set the goal up. All the strikers bar Nugent have been poor in the last few games so I think Futacs deserves a chance That pretty much explains why I picked that team
In defence of Vardy, who last season hit 34 in 38 albiet in the Conference - He has been ill and is now recovering - We don't have another player in our squad who can read the game as well as him and his work rate is top notch - Yes he will be disappointed not to have scored more, but I still feel he is our best chance of hitting the net
2 difficult games coming up, would like 2 points from the next 2 games if im honest, although Watford will have 2 suspended
Gone for a change of shape. Watford play good passing football so I reckon we might need another body in there and I felt James shored us up when he came on. Schmeichel Moore Morgan Whitbread Konchesky King James Drinkwater Knockaert Nugent Marshall Subs: Logan; Danns; Dyer; Schlupp; Vardy; Waghorn; Futacs
I think we need to accept that until we can get our striker situation sorted (Jones would be ideal) then we need to start playing a lone striker, and the only one vaguely on form (though I don't quite get the Vardy criticism- albeit I wasn't at the game yesterday) is Nugent. It's also always a good idea IMO to play one up front away from home, though I accept this isn't everyone's philosophy. Stick our goalscoring midfield machine further up the pitch, preferably in the centre of a 4-2-3-1 formation. Schmeichel Moore - Morgan - Whitbread - Konchesky James - Drinkwater Knockaert - King - Marshall Nugent So yeah, in summary, effectively the same as you Greatness
My big gripe last season was how useless our midfield was despite on paper at least not looking that bad. This season that's been more than sorted but now we seem rather fragile up front, again on paper at least we're not that bad. Me thinks its time to give Futacs a chance or play Nugs up front alone like 1884 above.
I wouldn't drop King for all the tea in china, he's our main goal threat for starters and is in the best form of his life
We have scored 3 goals this week King scored 2 and set the other up. Albeit Marshall had hell of alot to do
Id go with the old Howard Fryatt combination away from home, oh sorry i mean Futacs Nugent combination
Hola, vengo en paz. I've put a match thread up on the Watford board, if you want to come over for banter and that before the match please feel free. Enjoy the game!
Thanks Mexican Hornet Can we also make this a predictions thread? I have a really bad feeling about this, apparently our last three visits to Vicarage Road have ended 3-3, 3-2 (Watford), and 3-2 (Watford), not exactly the best record! I'm going to say 2-1 Watford...
Watford are a little unpredictable though, from what I've seen. Sorry if that seems inaccurate to Watford fans. Wouldn't like to call it but I'm being pessimistic and can see it being a loss. Got a few injury/fatigue/suspension issues and are in a bit of a blip in form.
City: Schmeichel, Moore, Morgan (c), Whitbread, Konchesky, Drinkwater, King, James, Knockaert, Marshall, Nugent Subs: Logan, Danns, Dyer, Waghorn, Gallagher, Schlupp, Futacs. Nailed it Like the look of that team
