Shinji Okazaki is out injured other then that everyone is fit and avalible. So here is what I would go with

    Hamer

    Amartey
    Huth
    Maguire
    Chilwell

    Iborra
    Silva

    Diabate
    Mahrez
    Gray

    Iheanacho

Subs- Jakupovic, Morgan, Fuchs, Albrighton, James, Ndidi, Vardy

Might as well go for it because we can’t do anything else. That said, the ‘fringe’ players deserve an outing. For me:

    Jakupovic

    Amartey Huth Morgan Chilwell

    Diabate Iborra Silva Gray

    Mahrez

    Ihenacho

Hope we take this seriously. Happy for Iheanacho to play and Diabate.

    Maybe

    GK - probably Jako
    Simpson Maguire Dragovic Chilwell
Silva James (I Iborra will play and Ndidi will be rested)
    Mahrez Gray Diabate
    Iheanacho

Vardy Ndidi Albrighton on the bench

Sheffield United are a bit stretched in midfield still with Coutts out and Fleck suspended. They signed some new guys in jan who are cup tied so we need to win the midfield battle as that is where they control their league games. They can be wasteful up front and are vulnerable to long range efforts on goal so hope to see us test their keeper

With no match until next Saturday, need to keep them ticking over.

Would guess if we had a mid-week match coming up, we'd have made more changes.

Statement of intent. Good to see us taking this serious. The banana skin was avoided by the team selection as a loss tonight even with a second string would have put us on a bit of a downward spiral. Rebooting after the mahrez situation gives us a platform to kick on for the final push..also like loads of us who where a bit non plussed about puels appointment are now sitting here thinking ... wow the owners do know how to employ.. enjoying the puels quiet revolution!!

I thought it was a really poor performance tbh but a side from a lower division will always make it difficult and it won’t be like Peterborough every time. The build up was so slow and we always seem to look backwards. I had travelled with a Blades fan and I said to him even their lads receive the ball, turn on it and look forwards. If Gray for example of facing back towards our own goal he just passed back.
Having said that, great cross (from the school of Albrighton) from Mahrez and great finish by Vardy. Most importantly into the last 8. Hopefully we avoid Man City but we will need to play a lot better in the next round and in league games.
We walked through the away fans to get back to the station and it was all kicking off outside the ground. Blades fans trying to attack ours, Leicester fans with kids rushing past heads down and I even saw a cop whack a Blade from behind!

Job done and the quality showed through - Mahrez showed why we wouldn't sell him for the money being offered - he has genuine quality - the ability to look up whilst on the all and pick a pass - great through ball to Vardy in the first half and even his nod back for Vardy's ruled out 2nd showed his game awareness - things like that separate the class players from the journeymen - great response from the vans - hopefully he carries on for the rest of the season - onwards and upwards <ok>

I remember the saying years ago when we had Muzzy Izzet. With him we are a very good side. Without him we are a good side

    Same goes for Mahrez

I would say that Muzzy was a bigger loss to that side then Mahrez is now - we are definitely better with him though.

I remember when we lost Gareth Williams to Watford on deadline day too... he was our only creative spark from what I remember and it just killed our season

    Muzzy Izzet - Appearances 248 Goals 34 Assists 27

    Riyad Mahrez - Appearances 128 Goals 35 Assists 24 .............. PL titles ? <laugh>

I loved Muzzy .... but he was signed by Birmingham City ... Mahrez will be signed by somebody very much bigger when he leaves ... and rightly so.

The thought we lost a player who we would have kept surely to Brum City is just depressing and a sign of where we are now

I mean Muzzy did more for the team then Mahrez does - naturally as one is a CM in involved with more of the play and the other a winger who is almost solely an attacker.
