Strangely, with so many left footers in the squad, the left hand side of the team is the weakest; offensively and defensively. With Boateng relying entirely on his right foot this won’t improve unless Jol sets up a more balanced format.

Having played both David and Trotta in yesterday’s U21 game, he’s obviously not going to change much for the Betis game however. My hope is that doesn’t simply stick with the same line-up that started the Bremen match, with Mesca replacing the injured Kaca. At the back, Hangeland didn’t appear too comfortable playing on the right of Amorebieta, who spent a fair bit of the Bremen game covering for the left back so an option would be to try (as he did at the beginning of last year) three at the back. Namely, Riether, Hangeland, Amorebieta and put the extra player in midfield.

He won’t, although I believe he will make some changes and go for -

    ……………..Stekkers…………
    ..Riether…Hangeland…Amorebieta..Richardson..
    ………………Boateng….….
    ………Kasami…………..Kara…
    ….Dejagah………………………..Ruiz..
    ………………..Berbatov…..

Shad Khan was at Motspur Park this morning, so presumably we'll be intoduced to him at the
    Betis game.
